New photo's submitted into the Reef/Science Biggest Wave Contest.

Finally some more photo’s!

These shots are also from the Extreme Bodyboarding Big Wave event held at Bay View, near Hermanus on the 24th of July 2007.

The man behind the lens was Graeme Cox, who submitted over 100 photo’s for us to shuffle through.
In our opinion, the best have been selected and accordingly have been entered into the Reef/Science Biggest Wave Contest.

Unfortunately round two of the Big Wave event was not able to take place, as the swell and wind didn’t arrive before the window period, which ended on the 31st of August, had passed.

While I was flipping through Graeme’s photo’s I happened to notice two in which there appears to be a cameraman in the water. We are going to be hunting this madman down in hope of squeezing a couple of shots out of him.

With winter slowly passing us by who knows whether or not there will be anymore submissions into the contest, but with such great prizes up for grabs I would be surprised if riders weren’t already watching the swell charts in hope of catching a winner!

Swell for next week Monday is predicted to be almost 6 meters. The swell arrives late in the afternoon, so things might be good for Tuesday.

Once again here is a reminder as to what is on offer to the winning rider and photographer. R4000 cash, which will be awarded to the rider judged to have ridden the biggest wave in South Africa on a bodyboard. There is also a R4000 cash prize for the photographer who captures the winning image. Not bad hey?

Peter Lambert, Mark Clark and James Moolenschot recently went for a paddle at Sunsets reef in Kommetjie, Cape Town, but unfortunately they were unable to paddle onto any of the waves due to the speed and size of the swell. They opted for towing onto the "beast" and managed to catch a couple of gems. Photographer Michel Dei-Cont was on hand to snap some photo’s, if you haven't already seen them take a look, these guys are pushing tin.

Many thanks to the sponsors of this event - Reef Wetsuits and Science Bodyboards.

Remember to Support those that Support bodyboarding because without them events such as this will not take place!
