5A South African Bodyboarding Championships

This years 20th annual South African Bodyboarding Championships will be showcasing the future stars the sport of bodyboarding has to offer.
The Juniors Division(boys aged under 18) has the some of the top young talent the that sport has to offer in the country. Last years SA Juniors Champion Jared Houston(WP) will be fighting to regain his title from fellow team mate and top seeded Western Province rider Joshua Kleve.
This is not to say that the other provinces team members like Dane Beales(CKZN), Justin Hoeben(Boland), Chris Elliot(EP), Royd Williams(NKZN), Adam Morley(SC) will not be pushing their limits to steal the Championship. Local knowledge could also play a huge part for top seeeded South Coast local juniors Emile von Vollenhoven and Jaryd Enslin.
In the Boys Division (boys under 15) showing that the sport of bodyboarding and healthy competition is enjoyed at a young age, the competitors will will be showing the older divisions that they will be a force to be reckoned with a just a few years. Top contenders from each region are Justin Hoeben(Boland), Nic Flood(EP), Craig Mitcheal(SC), Aden Kleve(WP), Warren van der Merwe(NKZN), Ian Cambell(CKZN) and Terence Pieters(SKZN).
The Girls Division (girls under 16) championship is wide open for the taking as last years winner, Lize-Marie Ras, is now riding in the ladies division and will be defenseless to a younger rider taking her thrown from last year.
A hot favorite for this year are last years runner-up and South Coast local Liezl von Vollenhoven, but she will be very closely watched by the other top seeded riders; namely Hermien Greyling(Boland), Frank Theumissem(EP), Cyan Bindoff(CKZN), Carrera Phillips(NKZN), Janekke De Kock(WP), and Geline Derbishire(SC).
The 20th Annual South African Bodyboarding Cahmpionships, which is sanctioned by the South African Bodyboarding Association (SABA), carries prizes to the tune of thousands of Rands.
Divions at the competition cater for Boys (U12 and U15), Girls (U16), Juniors (U18), Pro Men, Women, Men , Masters, Drop Knee and development.
Teams will be made up of each respective provinces best team riders. These provinces include Western Province, Boland, Southern KZN, Central KZN, Northern KZN, Eastern Province, Border and Southern Cape.
The SABA South African Bodyboarding Championships 2006 is hosted by the South Coast KZN Bodyboarding Association and is co-sponsored by SCIENCE, REEF, SPAR, ENVIRON, Arnette, Realty1 and www.FACTORY7.co.za
