This years Sport Unlimited Cape Classic has one of the highest prize purses in many years, with cash and product prizes valued at over R100 000. The country's top bodyboarding professionals will be flocking down to the Cape to try and claim their share of the huge prize purse.

The event which takes place at Glen Beach in Camps Bay kicks off on Saturday 17 March and concludes on Sunday 18 March, the finals of each division will be held on the final day of the event.

Divisions cater for Boys, Girls (U16), Juniors (U18), Pro Men, Women, Men, Masters and Drop Knee.

Last years winner and South Africa's top ranked bodyboarder Wesley Fischer (CKZN) will be returning from Hawaii along with Mark Watts (CKZN) to enter the competition and will no doubt be the hot favourites tipped to win. Current SA Champion Alistair Taylor (CKZN) will be looking to keep up his winning streak at an early stage of the year.

In the Drop Knee division current SA Champion Derek Footit (SKZN) will be going for gold after a convincing and spectacular win at the SA Championships last year.

In the Juniors Division, local boy Jared Houston (WP) will be fighting to gain an early lead over rival Micheal Ostler (CKZN). These two are always showing off for the crowds by trying to out do the other which results in a great show for the spectators on the beach.

In the Masters Division, a pioneer of the sport and current SA Masters Champion, Mike van Huysteen(CKZN), will be looking to keep his title after winning in this division at last years event. Mike will also be showing his years of experience against the best in the country by entering the Pro Men's Division.

The Sport Unlimited Cape Classic is hosted by the Western Province Bodyboarding Association and is co-sponsored by Sport Unlimited, Reef South Africa, Science Bodyboards, Spur and Debis Fleet Management.
