Chilean Cake

15th May 2010

You have no idea how much cake I have consumed since arriving in Chile. I have totally let loose after just getting over that heinous bug that plagued us in Brazil and am having the time of my life.

Days go something like this:

- Wake up at 7 and snooze for a halfa (the Turbo team have been labled as team lag by the other dudes! haha) - Hit the hotel lobby for some 'cafe con letchi' (Coffee with milk) and a small breaky. - Hail a short, 2 min cab ride out to the island that El Gringo breaks off, and get amongst it for a few hours before heading back into town. - Hit the Buffet lunch before having an afternoon siesta and then dinner, bed.

It's been in the region of 6-10ft plus ever since we arrived and I have seen some really amazing bodyboarding going down over the past few days! The scene here is incredible, and today the boys had like 20 girls hounding us all the way to the waters edge haha!

The wave itself is heavy, sort of a heavy big version of Ozzie Pipe or even Pipe itself. The left ends in a gurgling cesspool of doom, as I found out today after getting a little adventurous on the end bowl, whereas the right is the safer but bigger, heavier ramp! I am frothing for the contest too start.

I checked in last night, but heats are not up yet. I'll let you all know as soon as it is!

Some other exicting news is that I have been confirmed as an invite into the 2010 Fluidzone Shark Island challenge. I'm pretty damn excited about this as I get to redeem myself out there (hopefully) after my SHOCKING performance last year. The lineup is looking incredible aswell, it goes something like this:

Ryan Hardy Ben Player Damian King Michael Novy Jared Houston Andrew Lester Adam 'Wingnut' Smith Brendon Newton Thomas Robinson Jason Finlay Shaun Pyne Glen Sullivan John Showell

There are still 2 spots availiable through the trials, so good luck to all those guys battling it out on the weekend of the 13th. I would also like to give a MASSIVE thanks to Turbo Bodyboards for giving me this epic oppurtunity.

Also, I received the new top 10 Rankings for 2010 yesterday and they go something like this

1. Amaury Lavherne 2. Jared Houston 3. Pierre Louis Costes 4. Damian King 5. Diego Cabrera 6. Guilherme Tamega 7. Jeff Hubbard 8. Mike Stewart 9. Lucas Nogueria 10. Eder Luciano

Really stoked on this, but this also means I need to really knuckle down now and focus on the upcoming events. I'm feeling pretty confident out El Gringo, especially with being able to pick out the really rampy rights. The lefts are a bit trickier, but if I need to score I'll know what to do!

That's all I really have to share with you right now, but I'll be sure to keep you all updated with the happenings and also try and source a few images from the last few days. I may or may not have done the biggest backflip I have ever done, but you'll have to wait and see.
