Ben Player 2007 Mens World Champion

Ben Player (AUS) is the new 2007 Mens World Champion.

He was pushed all the way by Magno Oliveria (BRZ) in the first heat of the day in glassy 3 footers at El Confital.

Ben lead the heat early but Magno flipped his way into the lead at the half way mark and the pressure started mounting on Benny.

But like a true champion he managed a deep tube in the final five minutes to secure a spot in the Man on Man quarters and win the World Championship all in one.

"I can't believe it. It's really happened" said an elated Player.

"It's a great feeling to set a goal and achieve it. It makes you think that anything is possible if you really put your mind to it"

"Amaury is actually one of my favourite riders and it was amazing to be in such a tight race with him for the championship"

"I guess that I need to now refocus on the event and try to concentrate on the task in front of me"

"Thanks to all my friends and it was great to have my Mum here watching the whole thing"

After all the dust settled Ben won thru to the final tomorrow and will take on Uri Valadao (BRZ) and in the Women's final Mayla Venturin (BRZ) will take on Lilly Pollard (Aust)

The last day of this epic event will kick off at 10am local time.
