Last week Tuesday saw Josh Kleve, Simon Heale, Sacha Specker, Gregg Fraser and myself lucking into some waves at an isolated location.

Mon 10:32 pm: Skype goes bing, Spex makes a call. Problem is I have work. Good thing is my Dad is the boss.

Mon 10:54 pm: Computer is closed, crew has been established. Problem is I am surfing alone. Josh Kleve is not answering his phone, Specker is beached is bru with a mending ear, Simon is keen on getting the shot.

Tue 04:50 am: Problem 2 is I fell asleep at 1am. Good thing is Josh has finally returned my call at 5:33 am and is meeting us there.

Tue 07:23 am: No problems, get out there its pumping. Good things abound, Josh has notified Gregg Fraser (Old Gregg, esteemed Videographer) and he is setting up. Baboons gather on the dunes to watch the show.

While it wasn't pumping, there were still amazing waves around. We surfed for hours, held story time, packed up and left. Alone.

What I'm getting at in this post is that here in South Africa we live in an amazing place. I can count, needing all 10 fingers (and maybe more) the number of spots in 1 hours drive from Cape Town that you can surf on any given day of the week with just you and your mates. World class waves, your friends, someone snapping photos (optional) and good times.

This something that we all take for granted, but let me assure you that this doesn't happen anywhere else in the world. I want to encourage all of you to get off the couch, take the day off work if possible (Not school you guys need to finish that) and head off in search of your own isolated zone, where you and your mates can get pitted in peace and know that you live in the best country in the world.

Enjoy the pictures courtesy of www.thespex.com (Sacha Specker) from our little slice of heaven.
