Contest Chronicles v1.5 - Peruvian Inka Challenge

31st May 2010

Frothing on my 3rd place [IBA Peruvian Inka Challenge], but at the same time frustrated as I know I was so close in that Semi with Amaury. He is SUCH a consistent competitor and I was stoked to draw him, in the end I needed an 8.83 and I got an 8.33 for a backflip on the left! I was happy with the way I surfed in this event, the highlight for me was definitely beating Tamega in the Quarters and also the semis with Amaury as it was so close and competitive but at the same time we were not hassling each other just letting our surfing do the talking! I'm about to board the first plane of 3 en route home. Ian Thurtell of Carnage Bar claremont is throwing me a welcome back party on Friday the 4th at Carnage, if you are in Cape Town come say hey! I'd love to see ya! The support I get from the community back home is pretty much unmatched by anyone on tour I think (well except for Boetie) and I'm super proud to be a part of such a tight knit family! See you all very soon!
