Sponsorship request for WSG competitors

posted by Kelly Footit on 25th February 2004

Congratulations to Inge Pieters, Vaughn Harris and Darren Halse who have been selected to represent South Africa at this year's World Surfing Games, hosted by Ecuador from 19th-28th March at Playa la FAE in Salinas.

South Africa go into the games as defending champs after claiming the title on home soil in 2002. With over 20 countries competing from 5 continents, they will have tough opposition from favourites such as Australia and the United States.

The financial cost of competing in the event, has apparantly fallen on each member of the team who has been asked to raise an amount in the region of twelve thousand rand. We have, therefore, set-up some online sponsorship forms for anyone wishing to help out financially.

Suzie Husselmann (Sooz), one of SA's top bodyboarders for many years, has laid down the challenge to all the "leddies" to meet or better her pledge and help Inge, one of our country's top up-and-coming riders, to realise her dreams.

As a nation, if we are wanting to put more bodyboarders out there on the tours then, unfortunately the main factor comes down to financial backing. So, by helping out here you may be helping to put another South African into an international contest. Every little bit counts and will no doubt it will be greatly appreciated.

Deposits are also accepted in the UK in Pounds and anyone wishing to make their pledge should do so by visiting the following link:
