Day two of the Number 6 Brett Young memorial trials saw Australia and the worlds best riders push the limits of small wave riding at Cronulla point in clean but inconsistent 2-3 footers.

The stand-out was Ryan Hardy who snuck through his round three heat to dominate round 4 with a determined effort.

"It's only small but you have to be on it" said Hardy.

"I was pushed all the way today so I gave it 100 percent. Getting the sets is crucial if you want to do well"

Also in fine form was Queensland's Joe Clarke. Joe has been enjoying a good year of travel and results and today stamped himself as not just a dark horse but a serious contender with a polished display of competitive surfing.

West Australian charger Chad Jackson continued to impress the judges with his small wave riding approach. The renowned big wave rider has been ripping in the challenging conditions and is stoked to be back in the competition arena and doing well.

The surprise package of the event was Central Coast grommet Mark Parsons who blitzed his heat to set up a round five clash against the top seeds tomorrow.

Charlie Chaplet from Re-Union Island was the best of the International riders.

Tomorrow will be a big day for all the competitors as we decide the top 12 riders that will secure a berth in the main event of the Human Shark Island Challenge from July 1st – 20th.

Competition begins at 7.30am local time.
