The final day of the 21st annual 5A rated South African Bodyboarding Championships has been an amazing affair, with solid 4 to 6 foot hollow wedges and big busts being the order of the day.

Over the past week, Plettenberg Bay has played the gracious host to hundreds of ravenous boogers all testing their metal against each other at one of South Africa's most infamous waves, The Wedge.

Over a week ago contestants started monitoring swell forecasts and sooner or later Plett was abuzz with rumours of the super swell due to hit early on Saturday morning. It is tough to read into the future and with The Wedge being such a fickle wave many doubted whether or not the swell would arrive in time for the Finals. Luckily it did and it arrived in droves, with conditions remaining consistent for the majority of the contest.

It was action packed from the first heat when the Boys and Drop Knee quarter-finals took to the water. The Boys had to be tough to make it through the quarters in the testing conditions, but they persevered and surfed at a level above their years. The DK division was super hot and scoring came down to the wire.

The semi-finals were next up and once again the riding in all of the divisions was incredible with onlookers being flabbergasted with big rolls, deep barrels, super smooth ARS's and tweaked inverts.

Making it through to the Boys Division finals were Andrew Raath (BBA), Adam Waites (CKZN), Jason Selby (WPBA) and Murray van Vuuren (EPBA).

The Juniors Division was spectacular as always and was contested between Michael Ostler(CKZN), Ian Campbell (CKZN), James Jones (EPBA) and Dane Beales (CKZN).

The Mens Division final was held between JP Nortier (WPBA), Wayne Beekman (SKZN), Ryan Jucker (EPBA) and Wayne Du Preez (CKZN).

The battle in the Pro Division was tight to say the least and was fought between Mark Watts (CKZN), David Lee (SKZN), Jonathan Maritz (WPBA) and Marc Jucker (EPBA).

The Drop Knee Division final featured some of the top riders South Africa boasts in the discipline. Sacha Specker (WPBA), Derek Footit (SKZN), Chris Bosman (EPBA), and Stuart Bradford (CKZN) put on a World class performance for the crowd.

The Ladies Division final was a display of powerful performances by Geline Derbyshire (SCBA), Pamela Bowren (WPBA), Lyndell Pells (EPBA) and Wida Scholtz (SKZN).

The Masters Division finals saw some super hot riding from Brett Simpson (WPBA), Michael van Huyssteen (CKZN), Wesley McQuillan (EPBA) and Gustav Botha (BBA).

There was also time to fit in an expression session in the super surf. Those making it through to the final were, Alistair Taylor (CKZN), Sacha Specker (WPBA), Mark Watts (CKZN), Marc Jucker (EPBA), Daniel Worsley (WPBA) and Neil Smith (SKZN).

Final results will only be announced at the formal prize giving dinner tonight and will be posted online tomorrow.
