The final day of the five day festival of Bodyboarding at Praia Grande went off like clockwork.

What was originally forecast as a rainy Sunday turned out to be pretty close to perfect. Blue skies with a light sprinkling of high cloud, light offshore winds and fun sized 2 footers with the occasional bigger rouge sets. Mix in the world's best Bodyboarders and you have all the ingredients for a great spectacle.

First up ... The Expression session.

This was two twenty minute heats with 100E$ going to the most explosive move. Frenchman Louis_Pierre Costes took the coin with a volting ARS out of the bowl on one of the rare set waves. Oo La la… he was a happy man.

Next up the Women's final.

The Brazilians are going wave for wave and Mandy Zieren was left with the smaller ones. Neymara Carvalho (BRZ) was on a mission here in Portugal. Her passion to regain the world title was evident in her approach and she led pretty much all the way.

In the end she held the trophy high and said " I feel very good. It's like a dream come true. We had good waves here and the girls really pushed me to a new level. Thankyou to god and to everybody and I see you in Venezuela in the next competition"

Womens Final results:

1st - Neymara Carvahlo (BRZ)
2nd - Soria Rocha (BRZ)
3rd - Mayla Venturin (BRZ)
4th - Mandy Zieren (AUS)

The Men's final was an awesome affair with Luis Villar opening with a set wave and he took an early lead. Like Neymara he held it for 45 minutes and never really looked like being beaten. He was destined to hold the trophy and nothing was going to stop him. "I'm stoked!! Since Wednesday I saw the world's best riders ripping and I couldn't imagine beating them all to get first place in this contest. This is my best result this year and I will of course go now to Venezuela and to all the other events for more points."

"Thank you to Z-Point who makes my Pro Model. Thanks to my home city, my friends, my family and god."

Mens Final results:

1st - Luis Villar (BRZ)
2nd - Magno Oliveria (BRZ)
3rd - Uri Valadao (BRZ)
4th - Mark McCarthy (SAF)

Congratulations to Mark McCarthy - this result moves him into second place on the World Tour.

And apologies for the lateness of this final release but it was only put out today.
