The Human Cronulla Shark Island Challenge Trials - presented by Rockstar Games were completed today in solid 6ft conditions. The Southerly swell which produced slightly smaller waves on Friday continued to build all day. Waves and conditions varied most of the day.

The competition was fierce all day with all competitors showing an array of spectacular bodyboarding skill.

Come final time Australian Nick Ormerod took the title - results are below.

Round 4 highlights

Heat 1 - The first heat saw Scott Rigby, Nicholas Perry, Alex Leon and Simon Ormerod - Simon Ormerod taking the heat with Nicholas Perry coming in second to also progress to Round 5.

Heat 2 - The second heat saw Robert Banfield, Dallas Singer, Lloyd Pereira and Eli Beach - Dallas Singer taking the heat and Lloyd Pereira coming in second to also progress to the Round 5.

Heat 3 - The third heat saw Dave Crowley, Jason Hazle, Grahame Miller and Martin O'Connor - Dave Crowley taking the heat with Grahame Miller coming in second to also progress to Round 5.

Heat 4 - The fourth heat saw Ewan Donnachie, Nuno Trovao, Thomas Smith and Max Arent - Ewan Donnachie taking the heat with Max Arent coming in second to also progress to Round 5.

Heat 5 - The Fifth heat saw Jesse Dolman, Jorge Baggio, Shaun Pyne and Byron Namenyi - Byron Namenyi taking the heat with Jesse Dolman coming in second to also progress to also progress to Round 5.

Heat 6 - The sixth heat saw Lee Szczepanski, Glen Sullivan, Adam Wright and Nick Ormerod - Nick Ormerod taking the heat with Lee Szczepanski coming in second to also progress to Round 5.

Heat 7 - The seventh heat saw Ashley Bryant, Alex Bunting, Joe Clark and Grant Tyrrell - Alex Bunting taking the heat with Grant Tyrrell coming in second to also progress to Round 5.

Heat 8 - The eighth and final heat in Round 4 saw Ben Hansen, Aidan Taylor, Thomas Robinson and Sam Bennett- Thomas Robinson taking the heat with Ben Hansen coming in second to also progress to Round 5.


Round 5 highlights

Heat 1 - The first heat saw Troy Kneeves, Hugo Pinheiro, Simon Ormerod and Nicholas Perry- Simon Ormerod taking the heat with Hugo Pinheiro coming in second to also progress to the Quarter finals.

Heat 2 - The second heat saw Michael Chapple, Amaury Laverhue, Dallas Singer and Lloyd Pereira - Lloyd Pereira taking the heat and Dallas Singer coming in second to also progress to the Quarter finals.

Heat 3 - The third heat saw Corey McLean, Liam O'Toole, Dave Crowley and Grahame Miller - Dave Crowley taking the heat with Corey McLean coming in second to also progress to the Quarter finals.

Heat 4 - The fourth heat saw Josh Kirkman, Luis Pereira, Ewan Donnachie and Max Arent - Max Arent taking the heat with Josh Kirkman coming in second to also progress to Round 5.

Heat 5 - The Fifth heat saw Jesse Dolman, Jorge Baggio, Shaun Pyne and Byron Namenyi - Byron Namenyi taking the heat with Jesse Dolman coming in second to also progress to also progress to the Quarter finals.

Heat 7 - The seventh heat saw John Cruikshank, Vijay Maharaj, Alex Bunting and Grant Tyrrell - Alex Bunting taking the heat with John Cruikshank coming in second to also progress to the Quarter finals.

Heat 8 - The eighth and final heat in Round 5 saw Trent Cowan, Daniel Worsley, Thomas Robinson and Ben Hansen- Daniel Worsley taking the heat with Thomas Robinson coming in second to also progress to the Quarter finals.


Quarter Final highlights

Heat 1 - The first heat saw Nick Ormerod, Hugo Pinheiro, Lloyd Pereira and Dallas Singer - Lloyd Pereira taking the heat with Hugo Pinheiro coming in second to also progress to semi final.

Heat 2 - The second heat saw Dave Crowley, Corey McLean, Max Arent and Josh Kirkman - Dave Crowley taking the heat with Corey McLean coming in second also progress to semi final.

Heat 3 - The third heat saw Ricardo Faustino, Ben Gohl, Nick Ormerod and Adam Luehman- Nick Ormerod taking the heat with Adam Luehman coming in second also progress to semi final.

Heat 4 - The fourth heat saw Alex Bunting, John Cruikshank, Daniel Worsley and Thomas Robinson - Thomas Robinson taking the heat with Daniel Worsley coming in second also progress to semi final.


Semi Final Highlights

Heat 1 - The first heat saw Lloyd Pereira, Hugo Pinheiro, Dave Crowley and Corey McLean - Corey McLean taking the heat with Dave Crowley, both progressing to the final.

Heat 2 - The second heat saw Nick Ormerod, Adam Luehman, Thomas Robinson and Daniel Worsley - Thomas Robinson taking the heat with Nick Ormerod, both progressing to the final.


Final

The Final saw Nick Ormerod, Dave Crowley, Corey McLean and Thomas Robinson in that order..

First Reserve

Due to the 7 spots being allocated for the main event the 8th spot was decided by the rider with the lower 4th place in the Semi finals which was Lloyd Pereira.

Final placing for the trials and the trialist to progress into the main event goes as follows

The Human Cronulla Shark Island Challenge waiting period commences on the 27th of June. All riders and officials will be attending a briefing night on the 26th.

The Human Cronulla Shark Island Challenge is Australia's most prestigious bodyboarding event sponsored by Human and presented by Rockstar Games. The location is Australia's most premier bodyboarding location, Shark Island, known for its big barrels and heavy wipe outs.

Some may notice an amendment to this article. In the release which was emailed to me Lloyd was 7th and Daniel 8th but the IBA site now lists them as Daniel 7th and Lloyd 8th - so with 7 places qualifying for the main event it is Daniel who qualifies with Lloyd as first reserve. Well done to both!

Apologies for the miscommunication in news - not sure what happened there.
