David Lillienfeld Tand Trials and prizegiving

The David Lillienfeld Tand trials were held at Derdesteen and competitors were greeted with fun 2-3ft clean wave conditions. All the competitors rode extremely well and showed exactly how much they wanted to be in the main event on Monday.
Charles Pass was in top for from the word go, showing off high flying moves like backflips and inverts all the way through to the finals. Mafoos Lombard also showed
technical clean riding and some big backflips, getting him into the main event. Donovan Bassett showed good consistent riding throughout all 4 of his heats.
Some of the younger riders like Trent Johnson, Micheal Houston and Matthew Papas were really impressive and just missed out on making into the main event this year.
The prize giving was held at Latitude 33, where everyone enjoyed the
results, the live heat draw for the main event, beers and burgers and of course the soccer.
The
results from the trials are as follows, Charles Pass 1st, Mafoos Lombard 2nd, Benjy Oliver 3rd, Donovan Bassett 4th and making it through with the highest 5th place total was Corban Warrington.
The main event heat draws look like this.
Heat 1: Charles Pass, Andre-Hugo van zyl, Terence Pieters, Johan De Goede.
Heat 2: Benjy Oliver, The Maniac Wildcard -Wilder Shultz, Donovan Bassett, Corban Warrington.
Heat 3: Henk Esterhuisen, Luke Kitchin, Dylan Le Roux, Mafoos Lombard.
Heat 4: Rupert Le Grange, Attie Van Heerden, Tristan Roberts, Iain Campbell
ReThink the bag gave a great talk on
plastic bag awareness and everyone was challenged to make a change to their lifestyle. The Hubboard board raffle from The Surf HQ was on display, as were all of this year's trophies made by Kingdom Longboards.
RedBull continued to
show huge support from the morning until the evening and kept all the competitors energized and ready for their heats.
The main event contest will
start at 8:30am on Monday morning at Tand. There will be Bacon rolls, water and Flat Mountain Roasters coffee on sale all day, so come prepared for an awesome day of bodyboarding.
