The Kumba West Coast Classic 2014 Roadshow

The highly anticipated Kumba West Coast Classic is back again, starting off with a roadshow to visit the neighbouring schools. The aim of the roadshow is to promote the event, the sport of bodyboarding as well as Kumba's involvement in the social development of these communities, such as Saldanha, Elandsbaai and Lambertsbaai.

The Roadshow will kick off today by visiting Vredendal Noord Primary school at 12:45. Tomorrow it will make stops at Lutzville High school at 09:40 and then onto Uitkyk Primary school at 12:40.

At all of these stops the famous Coke truck will be there, playing music and creating the awesome atmosphere experienced at the Kumba West Coast Classic.

Kumba has played a pivotal role over the past few years in growing the sport of Bodyboarding in these area's. The Boland Bodyboarding Association has been unending in striving towards growing these newcomers into full time bodyboarding competitors, by going up on weekends and doing clinics with them, running small scale contests and just spending time getting to know each individual makes a real difference in not only their lives but the lives of the community members too. As an added incentive for the riders, the champion development rider at the Kumba West Coast Classic wins a place in the team that represents the BBA team at the SA Championship.

The roadshow's aim is to go into the schools and create social awareness about the sport and its benefits to the individual and to the community at large.

A huge thanks goes out to Kumba, BBA, Coca Cola and Reef SA for all the hard ground work put in, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for the young ones in these communities.
