SA Team Update: Margarita Island, Venezuela

posted by Janet Middleton on 22nd November 2012

The South African Bodyboarding team of Pamela Bowren, Georgi McKeone, Tristan Roberts, Iain Campbell and Matthew Lombaard, along with team manager, Sean Oberholzer have safely arrived on Margarita Island in Venezuela to compete in the International Surfing Association World Bodyboarding Championship.

After 2 days of travel and over 20 hours in airports - the team arrived in their tropical destination. One "crazy" taxi ride later, they were welcomed by warm, humid weather, white sandy beaches and small, but fun surf!

The wonderful team accommodation is a short 30 minute walk from the contest area. They have already managed to fit in 5 hours of training, with SA Champion, Tristan Roberts training for 8 hours! The competing nations are starting to arrive and the contest set to be fierce!

Best of luck to each rider! Do South Africa proud!
