The only advice i have is that either you buy a South African product or a product that directly puts back into S.A Bodyboarding.

The companies to look at are fairly obvious...

The Science MS-1 goes super well at the hoek and in all hollow scoopy type waves. I would highly reccomend it. What height and weight are you?

Whats ur take on Jeff Hubb BZ's and Spencer Skipper e - good quality or just performance boards that doesnt last that long??

    thanks peter,

    Yo

Dont forget that you can get a custom atd delivered to your door... and if you are unsure about a custom board; go for the "sampi" (blatantly pushing my model - ha ha) model or the "Speed Merchant".

My reasoning; if you want a board to hit ramps and is an all rounder... well then there is no contest.

Good luck on finding the perfect board

Hey! with a weight like that I would recommend you try out the MS1 in the 42 inch model.... the eight is a crescent tail, whereas the one is a delta tail - like a hub tail, but just a little more refined. Hub and Skippy are both good boards, but I find the skippy a bit stiff, and the BZ, although a good board, is distributed by a guy in south africa who obviously puts nothing back into the sport in terms of contest sponsorship or mag advertising, so I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy one... that's why I stopped riding the hubb in the first place. We all have to grow the sport, not make things go backwards.

I went from bz double platinum to science ms1.

Bz lasted almost a year before it had 3 creases in the slick and a fat elbow crease... the rocker also disappeared and i was riding a banana for a few months. But the board was lank fast, really flew was a little stiff though.

The science is bout 3 months old now not as fast as the bz but i get lots of projection. There a little bit of a elbow crease forming now... still goes lekker though. Lot softer than the bz just wish it was as fast.

Just for the record, bz was 42 and science is 42.25.
I am bout 1.89m tall and weigh round 68kgs.

Ride your friends boards till you find one you like :)
If i found another double platinum when i was looking for a new board i would have bought it. The new hubb looks way too thick o.O

guys...after digesting sentiments posted --- I think im leaning towards a skippy but will definatly check out the MS1 - i tried a buds skippy e out and it gave me good speed and is fairly solid but im worried about the lenghth of its existence - if im gona spend close to 2000, i want something thats gona last me - anyway, but gona do a proper assesment on the MS-1 first n thats only coz the Hoek master, pete, rates it high which is worthwile investigating.

    thNKS GUYS - appreciate it

check u out in the line-up fellas - enjoy the weeknd and lets all get sickly pitted -

I've been riding a skipp comp for the past two years, (PP core, cresent) first had the closed cell, then the open cell.

Only complaint I would have is that they're too stiff, but thats probably got a lot to do with the fact that I'm riding in English waters wich is better suited to PE cores.

Water temp ranges from 6 - 14 degrees. not sure what the water temps are like down their but you might want to see if a pe core model is available. If you do get a pp model and the water temps anything like hear and you look after it the chances are you'll have it for years cause creasing it would be an almost impossability!

Havent had any problems with reliability, when I sold my closed cell after a year. It was still in perfect condition.

Good luck with finding a board.

I'm not really a board guru, but I am pretty hard on my gear and the Skipp comp 42 has withstood a good solid beating. So if you are hard on your gear, or ride heavy breaks then that could be a good move.

    Rock on.

hi Shamierc, the MS1 Mike Stewart designed to handel Thapoo and it did, the board has enough flex to let you do the steering but stiff enough to geve you great speed. Mike Stewart has put a lot of time in design and development into the MS1. Marc McCarthy rides the MS1 and so does Vaugn Harris if he charges Koel bay. I am a average rider and with the MS1 I get into and out off barrels. It is the best board for most West coast waves that will bite you. Science have one of the best after sales service that you can get and we do get involve in the sport. I do not say we are the best boards, but there is no other board better. I am sure peter lambert will help you if you need to ride the board, he also has a MS3. If you need any info please ask.

Thanks Len. Appreciate ur advice. Will have a chance to do some investigating on the boards this week - I have had alot of recomens re the MS 1 so will def check it out - I myself am nothing close to being really good but stil get pitted on every session, love my speed and im no scary-cat on the big days - so a solid - fairly stiff guy will be criteria.

    thanks

    later bro

Howzit Shamierc , my connection has an science ms8 and a e Skipp comp
the ms8 is a wicked board for prone its fast and the best part of it is the "SNAP" which it has off the lip only thing that freaked me out a bit when trying his ms8 out is that its not very thick and feels a little flexy at times but after a good couple months of solid hammering the board has not one crease yet so it is extremly solid..

The Skipp is a nice board if you want a bit of prone and dk but seen you 100% prone the ms8 would be a better option... Go for the Science if you are only looking at prone.

If you looking at the E series the McFly is the prone option, hmm extremly fast board and seriously solid only thing its rather loose  (can make things extremly fun) and doesn't have the same snap as the Science so you gotta really work for you air time!..
