How cold is cape town??

    Gudday all!

Never surfed cape town. Closest I've been was Herolds Bay for SA's in 2005. Would a 2 mil spring suit do since that is what I used at Herolds?
    For the Cape Classic...

    Regards,

    Stephan

the only way i think you will survive in the atlantic with a spring suit is if your skin is as thick as a seals and you got tons of adipose tissue as insulation buddy :D

i dont think a spring suit is a good idea, especially in a comp

    BUT its your choice.
I once went in at the hoek in boardshorts and rash vest, waves were good, stayed in for 3 hrs,but it was the biggest mistake of my life.

    I wish you luck

There is a guy who is a mate of a mate in fish hoek called Ashley Stokes... He doesn't surf, but he used to go dive for crafish in kommetjie in midwinter for 3 hours in a spedo - like all the time... now there Hugh Grant, is a real man! I don't know what the manhood looked like- size wise after that thought... I am sure it was not pretty in a spedo!!!!!

Nah this dude bakerzakes dont count. His a big guy with all that adipose tissue he's talkin' about. I surf in a 4.3. mates of mine surf in a 3. But seriously, a full wettie is advisable, esp if u wana stay longer than a hour in the water. Temp on the atlantic ranges between 10 - 15 on average, so it is pretty chilly. Yup, a speedo keeps ur guy from frostbite and getting in the way on those ARS lands...ooo...that can hurt eh?

mwahhhhaahaa! adipose - had to look that up - one very polite way of saying 'with natural insulation'! I'm a skinny bloke and I couldn't surf the Atlantic in anything less than a 4.3. On those howling south easter days the spy dude ninja suit comes in very very handy too (that's the 1mm thermo vest with attached hoodie...) and yeah, you'll wanna see the 'manne' crying over their sex-change when they get out after 3 hours in boardies!!!

 Being a warm-water Durban Boy, i'm starting to stress about the numbing effects of CT waters, brrrrr! I'm def all for my 3mm Fullsuit compliments of REEF, obviously not going for any marathon surfs! See ya at the Contest!

Haha! I always felt like a bit of a gimp wearing a hoody until I started getting hassles with my ears. Then I discovered the ninja suit! Dude! even if it's not over your head it stops that ice-bucket down the spine on duck dives! Ninja turtles ride mutants!
