Hi Guys....if anyone could help me out with some info on what to do....it would be GREATLY appreciated!
Yest I was riding a big swell down the south coast and got the thrashing of my life when a freak set landed on my head.....my board was ripped away and got sucked into the barrel which left me struggling on the top trying not to get sucked over the falls.....
With the force of my board being pulled away from me my leash plug has ripped into my deck about 20cm vertically....
How can I stop it from pulling further and really destroying my board....I have a new Skipp Comp!!!
ouch bummer dude, maybe try get hold of Rossi of one of the other local shapers and see if they can help, u used to ba able to buy repair kits from Surf Stores but i havent seen them in a long time...

Dude, if it's torn the entire core like it sounds, I don't think any repairkit is gonna help... sorry...
if it's just the deck-skin then yeah, speak to Rossi or Al Taylor.
(although from the SouthCoast that's a mission)
For an ugly fix just fill the whole thing up with silicone, it'll be ugly as sin but it worked for a friend of mine who had a gouge through his slick and right into the core (like more than half way through) because a surfer subbed and let his board slip out and spear him as he rode over...
MAybe just put yopur plug in place, tape off the bottom so it ismn't bumpy on the bottom when it sets and fill her up...

Yeah shot guys, im going to give the silicone a bash and see if i can keep it neat....just dont want to screw myself if i snap my plug....
Thanks for the help.....

For these kind of sponge wounds I use a hot glue gun....the hot glue bonds to the core and deck materials and when it sets, its hard and you can trim the excess glue off with a blade.

about the glue gun... we used to use that method at Island Style back in the day, but we found sometimes the glue would react with the core and do more damage then good, lucky it was on a team riders board

I can tell you that I have been using a hot melt gule gun for many years and that works really well for all kinds of bodyboar repairs, sepecially the re-lamination of slicks and rails and pluging the ocasional hole.... I have never had any problem with the glue melting the core. I would however STRONGLY advise AGAINST ever trying to heat laminate (hot air gun)anything to do with a bodyboard as I have totally trashed 2 boards doing that.

Dunno what the other okes reckon but I'd bung the old plug hole up with silicon/hot glue and move the plug to avoid future strain on already weak part of your board... (might look a bit suspect tho' but definitely stronger)

Sounds like the time my leash cut a 10cm slot through the nose of my board. I used SpongeRes back then, but its basically just a silicone so i say try that.

Face it bru, you have no other choice, but to hot glue the tear and go OLD SCHOOL and put an ankle leash in........ha ha ha ha
