    Kelly would dig to see something like this on 60/40 (been harping on at spike about it aswell)
    It will give a chance for guys like Peter (lines of fire) and Jared to promote themselfs to a much bigger audience and it will also give the average joe who films something say on his cellphone or digi cam an opportunity to upload small videos.
    Oh andi have the ability to grab the flick too which is epic. its all about promotion.

    Hey Pierre, I am all for this sort of thing... but hopefully of a slightly higher standard than that link that you sent us.... if I had filmed that stuff I would have thrown away all the footage except for 2 clips!

    Going forward I think that we should start uploading some downloadable clips like the movie trailers you see on fluidzone. Pierre, just remember, having ADSL is the exception, not the rule in S.A., and not everyone is as lucky as us.

    Twins, Jarred, Pinky, Dane1, Alone Production Guys, Muggy, Dane2, Neels etc... what do you guys think?

    Hey Kelly, I have got a SICK idea... why don't we run a once a year comp for the best online video clip, and make each clip one song long, i.e. 2-4 minutes... then all the guys who shoot can upload a clip once a year, and readers can vote one which clips they like the best,, and the wining clip can win something. What do my fellow video producers think?

    peter, see i started the ball rolling.....
    but my idea isnt only for you guys, but for eveyone, i filmed some mtn biking on my cellphone and it came out sick, same as a few quick clips of waves....
    i am speaking 600 kb not 4megs.

    But this is also good for you pros.. like you said trailers and stuff.
    Same as photos but also for video. And same as photos when you upload you can choose if the clowns can grab it or not (no right click).

    Other reason i put that link up was because it came off a surfer (stand up) website... also look on that page for the dungeons clip filmed by grant washburn, shows some of the waves from that massive sunday a few weeks back.
    Oh and one day i would love a session at newport wedge with the rest of the crowd, will be like surfing llandudno ona good day. Who knows maybe i will stay out longer than 10 minutes..hahhaa

    this would be a sick feature..
    lots of the overseas BB websites have it [isolated,hollowpits,fluidzone] and its really neat, it could even be just a clip of one wave...

    It will definetly promote bodyboarding alot and give all the video guys some exposure.

    OK guys ...

    Ja - a little slack here but I'm on the case.

    1. SA is a little slow on the broadband uptake but it is time for us to add video and I have started already working on it. If I had more time last weekend, you would have had it already.
    2. Have decided to go with youtube.com as I think a flash player is the solution so you don't have to have Windows Media Player or Quiktime. (We have one in the database already - the Al Taylor tutorial on tube riding/reverse airs).
    3. I want to add a bit more functionality and link back to riders, surf spots and a manoevres database if it is just a short one wave tutorial or to a product page if it is a teaser for a DVD.

    All this may not come all at once but ja - something to build up like the photo gallery and definitely want to give the video guys a bit more help than just frame grabs as we all know frame grabs don't do their work justice.

    If you guys want to start putting some stuff together:

    1. I'd like to get clips of riders happening so that these can register against the riders profile. Maybe you guys can also make some cash out of filming and editing a 1 or 2 minute section for the riders.

    2. Also can do some sections for each surfspot.

    3. DVD Teasers - Peter, we need one for LOF.

    4. You could do an ad-hoc mix of riders & surfspots - but then it will sit in limbo like the photos which are not attached to anything when the database grows bigger. Which is not a stress - if its good then we want it.

    This sounds really sick. I saw the alistair taylor clip and was wondering if there would be more videoclips on sixty40. The clips for riders sounds sick and making an edited piece for the surf spots sounds good. if or when this happens how would we upload clips and how long would it take?
    It will give the videographers a chance to promote bodyboarding and the dvds they make. They could also promote sponsors and maybe get a bit of cash as well
