I don't know what anyone else has to say but I bought a Cartel, very nice board but with the hi-density deck foam, plus stringer, plus polyprop it was WWWAAAAYYYYY to stiff for the cold cape hit some chop at speed and you get whip-lash......I got an Elenompee same construction way too stiff but after a few fat ramps (and I'm not refering to my sweet, chunky stomach) it's loosend up nicely and is now super fast/loose......My sickest board ever was a Lazer 2 Cx....ha ha ha ha just kidding.......def. my CustomX Booth until I got lipped while on the DK and it got folded.....depends on what you like, I prefer a softer foam on the deck and a little bit of flex cause I DK like a spaz.....and I do one handed cutties and hand-drags....ha ha ha
I hope everyone gets fat barrels, sick shoreys and heaving pits this weekend!!! Rock on!

dude, as i have discovered, your board should reflect the waves you ride.
I got myself a custom x ism at the beginning of the year and up until monday had only ridden it in beach break waves and point breaks (it goes like a bomb at ebay) anyways on monday i rode big messy kbay and as dwalla and remmy as my witness, took off first wave and ..... nosedived, pitched over staight into the reef, resulting in a near broken arm and a seriously farked back, the rest of my session i felt like an utter kook trying to figure out how to bottom turn kbay ona board that wont flex.
So ya.
take that into account....... just thought i would share that....
or maybe i am just a kook.

Yo,
I'm 6'2" and weigh about 89kg. i had a bz hubb graphic 41.5' and that lasted less than a year before snapping in half.
I then bought myself a ELEMENOHPEE MCFLY 42" and to be honest it is one of the best boards i have ever riden being it in 6' hoek or 2' glen beach slush. It handles my size very well and if you can you must try go for one of those. (own opinion, but depends on your height, weight etc.....)
Keen 4 a surf this weekend.
Shot 4 the story Spydude, don't worry we all feel like that sometimes. keep on charging.
Cheerio,

LMNOP is by far the best boards i`ve ridden. PMA is doing a good job...

PMA don't make the stock elemenohpee boards, they are made in a factory in Taiwan...... PMA only make elemohpee's pro riders custom boards. eg. Spencer Skipper would ask them to shape him a board and put the elemenohpee stencil on it.
DarkhorseMay 2006flipin toobs all teh way!

The best board is always the free board, aquired with the might of a criminal mind, step 1. put a huge trench coat on, okay straight enter the shop without been noticed, drop and roll technique is always a winner, then proceed to mingle around the shop capturing No eye contact at all, with anyone except your hot betty that you've brought for distracting the sufer boy sales men, once you passed unnoticed through his clutches, you proceed to the boogieboard rack , you then continue to use any of the American imported boards which cost as much as my car, you probe one between your tight flesh and..... well stick it where it fits , u then casually make for the exit grabbing your betty on the way out and dont forget the middle finger salute to the pretty surfer boy sales men, drop a HO$H ja to distract the investigation into believing its a gang thing, So now that How you aquire a board and the best thing that if it creazes you just toss it and come to the conclusion that IMPORTED BOARDS COST more than life itself, and turn to South African boards for a new lease of life...........Justa thought but 2 to 3 grand has to do with greed and not furthring the sport so If TOOBS comes back to SA then how about a promotional discount or something........ help the brothers out.......or stop the colonial ownership okay dwaala dropit your a flippin freak,....anyway the waves tommorow are going to provide what the Brasse would like to call intercourse, pleasure at its greatest............bbbbbbbbbaaaaaarrrrrrreeeeeeeellllllllllles ekse straight

my opinion-bz do crease way 2 easily,i creased my bz hubb surfing in the canaries-duckdiving 4ft 'the bubble'
custom x-make some fast boards but i find that negative rocker always occurs on the tail, had a c4,had it for 6months,its creased and has negative rocker, paid R2000.not woth it
lmnop-got a skippy comp, sick looking channels, goes well,a bit to flexy though,it feels like it can crease real easily.
genesis-i rate genesis up there with toobs, the best.got a rui ferreira signature board, goes super fast and has the correct amount of stiffness.goes like a bomb!
heard that science boards crease to easily?!
genesis and toobs all the way

my personal opinion, there wasn't and will never be a better board than toobs. they are the best made boards in the world and have always been, the attention to detail and the finish on them is far better than any other boards i've ever seen. and they ride soooo good. in my opinion, nothing will touch a toobs board. wait a little bit and you'll be able to get your hands on 1 soon enough. will be worth the wait.
DarkhorseMay 2006haha so amped for toobs to take over. dunno why they never came in??
sheesh neevr knew everyone else was amped on tehm, thought i was the only one!
ahoy!

What is the best between Custom X and Cartel? Simon, does Steve stock Cartels now, I remember him telling me they distribute a new board, but not sure if that's it...

Movement mag actually runs an interview with Ben ... he is still shaping but I don't think the brand is as high profile as it used to be.
If you're keen to pick up the mag we've got them instore ... R35 to your post box or door. It's a good source for international news which is one of the main reasons it has been brought in. Visit
http://www.factory7.co.za for your copy.

I think Al has got a winning formulae- new product backed with experience. I have just checked out the website and it looks good. I think my next purchase would be one of his boards.
Definetly in my price range and the ideals I would look for in a company that wants to provide a solid customer relationship.
