Anyone using fin socks. Are they of any real benifit.Went boggying over the weekend in icey water.20mins later my feet felt like they were off.Only had on a rashvest and board shorts.I dont usually mind the cold waters of Cape Town but my feet cant take it so im getting a pair of fin socks but dont know if they'll help.Should i rather go for booties.Bear in mind that im not wearing a wet suit...yet.Would a wet suit(alone) keep my feet from freezing off.
Hey Warren, if you are trying to ride the cold waters of cape town and don't have a full suit, then you are either into surfing sessions of less than 10minutes, getting a small tottie, or hyperthermia, or ar just crazy, or all of above.
Get a wetsuit, and then worry about your footies.... it will be money better spent (and you will be a lot warmer)
ciao!

ya i agree, i was out at the wedge (cpt harbour) on sunday, in full 4/3 suit, combat vest with hoody and fin sock and i was freezing my gonads off, so dude i agree with Peter, sort your body out first and worry about your feet later. PS surfer booties will give you cramps, rather stick withthe fin socks. Dudes, Melkbos was CRANKING sunday, never seen it that good in my life before.

If anyone one of you east coast spongers come down to cape town, make sure that you bring your full wetsuit. If you go and surf The Hoek, even with a wetsuit, you come out a woman. You don't play around with cape town's water, your parts don't shrink, they dissapear!
