I did a one-handed cuttie the other day and it was massive!! With my top hand in the air I could shaka the toothpick's , donkey's and tourists on the shoulder and lean way back and get some good groove into my rail......the spray was wwwwaaaayyyy bigger than the usual cutback........
I vote we put an old skool division into competition....get back to our roots. the rules are: there are no rules! well the one rule should be you have to wear paddeling gloves....HA HA HA HA HA HA
Who remembers "kneelo".......kneeling on your sponge and getting all stoked....HA HA HA HA THAT SUCKED....but it was fun!!
lets get some votes.......bring back the old skool.......yes or no
I thought that was the men's division??? That guy Beekman is king!
Seriously - sounds good ...
Cooking surf = expression session
Average/poor = old school
Time permitting - both.
Good entertainment factor. I like the idea - you have my vote!

cut backs RULE!!! i am 32 been doing this sport since it started, old school rules, problem is i have grown up with surfers and thus look at a wave like a surfer, speed, carves, cut backs, rolls, inverts and tubes are about as much as i do, i suck at spins and backflips hurt my back, and i get dissy trying ARS's, must admit though air spins and reverce air spins rock, but have only landed a couple in my lifetime. Hence i suck at contests, prefer the mellow chill vibe in the water, or just pulling in at phat kbay.
Viva us ballies...........
You want old school, try pat caldwal and jp patersons wounded duck style... hahhahaha or how about cork screws... who remebers those.

Spy Dude you and me are from the same (old) skool bro!!! You got me thinking....remember the kak boards.......my first 4 "boards" we're from "The Hypermarket by the sea" in Durbs.......I progressed from glued on skegs to screw-in skegs.....HA HA HA that was ssssooo wack!! But my first real board was a lazer 1....with no slick, it SUCKED literally....I'd have to leave it in the garage to dry out!!!! Then I got a Lazer 2.....pink deck, black rails and white slick....oh baby it was the stuff....I even put huge pink skegs in it.....HA HA HA SO I COULD KNEELO!!!!!!!!!!! Good Times!!!

I have forwarded this onto the SABA committee and have suggested putting this on as a bit of entertainment for SABA contests.
Throw in a few old school tunes, get a few guys in on the act to bring their old Lazer 2, lumo wetsuits/baggies and leg leashes ... could be entertaining.
Cheers for the suggestion.

I'm sure they had an old-school speciality heat at the Coca-Cola Night Bodyboarding Contest at North Beach a while back, I think Doug or Gordo Cockwell went out on one of their first ever bodyboards, OLD MachII.
Good times!

chinny... yeah have the same board, the ol pink lazer, mine was a reject from the factory, so it had no branding, my folks couldnt afford a new board for me at the time.
Leg ropes...hahahhahaha yeah thats old school.
Old school legends in SA, other than Mike Van hysteen, who remebers Jaques Van Heerden (rip) Robin and frans olivier, frank stolburg, lee slabber, philip ohlmsdal, the all time sa champs at jbay, the falsebay bodyboard club, nic abrahams, tony abrahams, the beaty brothers before they became surfers.... good times, happy dayz.
