Developer building on coastline looks set to disrupt Supertubes...

I've never been to J-bay, I've heard it's not the most bodyboarding friendly wave/spot but hey next it'll be Cave Rock or Peace Cottage - who needs another development after all?

Thought I'd just give you all the option of lodging an objection...
Need to get 10 000 objections by 5 march.

Hay! All of you please support this and tell everyone possible you know to make a stand against greed, destruction and mass/over development of such coastal regions. South Africa has some of the last un-urbanized coasts in the world and we should look after them for the future.

Shout out for your right.

Hey, developers are just slaves to the capitalist machine........like all of us who work for our cash......I think it sucks and they should go build somewhere else........but lets be honest its just a matter of time before some overseas corporation offers someone enough euro's or dollars and our coastline will end up looking like Sun City........I say "Hell No!!" they can all ffoetsakk (of course I have signed the petition!).....but at the end of the day is it really up to us?

I THINK THEY SHOULD JUST BLOW THE WHOLE REEF OF J-BAY UP!!!!THEN
THEY MUST BUILD A SMALL CRAFT HABOUR IN SUPERS AND LET ALL THE RICH PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY RAPED THE KUK OUTTA J-BAY PARK THEIR NICE YACHTS,,SERIOUSLY J-BAY IS JUST SO COMMERCIAL AND THE ONLY PEOPLE MAKING A LIVING THERE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT THERE ANYWAY,

howsit,ST you are totally correct with youre comments.I'm a jbay born and bred local.I know of only 2 other bodyboarders here in jbay.Everyone here disses bodyboarding,its so kak man,ive been sponging here for 11yrs now,the so called 'locals' have no respect for you or me because we bodyboard.The town is owned by a lady{no names} who does what she wants,builds huge guesthouses on Supertubes,literally,and that huge new warehouse by kitchen windows is so ugly,her company doesnt care,about the welfare of the town and its people.jbay has long been gone to greed and corruption,money talks in this town.Its a pity,but i guess all good things come to an end,ive got so many good memories of this town.
Another thing why doesnt her company sponser bodyboarders?because she hates us,I know I used to work for them,they really hate spongers...AT THE END OF THE DAY WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.....jbay went to the dogs long ago

If they build in J-Bay then before we are gray head all ballies the Transkei will be raped aswell, I feel you on the first shout out. I will always remmeber what it was but who wants down town LA concrete slabs and those dealers down on the corner moving into the coastal low down spots

Get a DK pit for me next time NB is 6ft and firing.

hey, whats up with you o's and not liking j-bay, doug and sasha, u o's rip and should know that we trying to save the bay not the surfing population, as you say j-bay has gone to the dogs why, cause we havnt made a stand.... those dam surfers only think they own the wave, let them do watever, some day bodyboarders will reckon enoughs enough and take over, we gotta make a stand and fight for the wave, not to own it but simply to ride it... keep it clean and vote bra, not 4 surfing but for the best right in the south africa. ahoy

Doug was the first of the bodyboarders I know to forward me this petition and is definitely supporting the cause.

What these guys are saying was that J-Bay was a different place back when they and I first surfed it 15-20 years ago ... and probably a lot different many years before that.

Things were a little mellower back then at the Bay of J.

But 4 sure - go vote.

I live in Southern California. There's a break called trestles and the same thing is happening because they were going to built a toll road over an undevelop area. However, due to many, many, and many interest to stop this destruction many surfers and bodyboards, that surf that break protested!

If I live near Jay Bay, I would definately stand up with you guys!
