Hey there puku, check this link out, the got all the pics of the dropin and the klap he got afterwards....
http://www.805bbr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3796
It's a pretty heavy wave to burn someone on. But then there are also 2 sides to every story.
Anyways, apparently he's ok and not to rattled from it, just one of those things I guess.
Whats are your guys opinions on it???
jbs
January 2006
check the 3'rd pic down, Winny's lower back on the right hand side of his spine, you can also see it in the last pic when he's walkin away. likes like some type of wound or sore?
puku
January 2006
thanks for the link jbs.its probably reef cuts or something.you have to admit that mark healy was pretty deep and he didnt have a big chance of making it,but winny should've given him the benefit of the doubt.but 1 drop-in doesnt deserve a klap i skeem.maybe he was causing kak with them before?

Well the introduction of Human Rights in South Africa has changed my view regarding the whole sport... yes
Firstly the whole idea of people getting violent over a wave the kills at least one person every year is beyond me!
How come criminals, cos thats what they turn into after assulting someone (remember today there is no such thing as corporal punishment), get away with it?
It would be far different in SA.
However I understand the territory thing- everyone fuelled on drugs a bit moggy like bullterriers so its normal to beatdown okes--Retards!
I recon that all the bb'ers from all over should hit hawaii and make it so crowded during the season so that they are rendered powerless to the Kings of the TUBE!
Chinnychinchin
January 2006
Amen to that......No matter how you try and justify it, it's assault, which should equal jail time. If I was Winny I would press charges......Don't get me wrong I think there is def. a place for localisim....it should be there to keep the crowds on the straight and narrow....if you drop in your board should be taken away (for a time in proportion to the drop-in) and you lose all rights to paddle out.....simple. If you can't show some respec, don't paddle out.....
jbs
January 2006
true, but on the other hand Winny should've known better than to burn someone at pipe. Not saying he should of got klapped tho, but he does know how the system works over there so when his time came hopefully he took it like a man. Personally I wouldve crawled into the foetal position and cried...lol,not really but anyways...

Ok how many of you laughed when that surfer got given a smack down first by kiano and then by the volcom crew... I have looked at the photos was posted on that forum, winny farked up plain and simple and got the punishment that goes with the crime. Honestly he looked like he got off cheap, that surfers face a few years ago was much worse, shit it even looks like he is laughing throughout the beating.
So ya, remember just cos us Saffas practice more verbal localism than any thing else doesnt mean you can go to the rock and drop in on long time locals, what you think was gonna happen, give hima fine??? shhaa where would that leave the sport...... eeeeish i went for a surf today and racked up R500 in fines for burning some kook.... ya!!!
Get over it kids, winny was in the wrong and he got off lightly, i have heard of guys having to fly out that night cos of a lesser incident.
Face it, smack downs have been a part of surf culture since it first began, us saffas are just a little more civilised than our aggro brothers in OZ and SEPPOLOAND (thats the US, yup that country that just invaded pakistan -- aggro basterds)
Chinnychinchin
January 2006
It's true, if you go to the rock and surf like a fool expect to get sschmakked.......the only winner here though is Volcom......it's cheap and nasty advertising on their behalf......youth against what? counter culture who? they obviously could'nt give a rats a*se, they're just cashing in and adding to the capitailst machine that they supposedly oppose.....
that NINJA kid
January 2006
Yeah dude, if I thought that I'd make that (face it not many okes would take a close out that size for the fun of it over pipe's notorious reef) and someone burnt me I'd be pissed.
He wouldn't of seen the shots so if he thought he'd make it without seeing from our prespective how deep he was he'd be overs mad.
I'da slapped Winny if he did it to me. I wouldn't have had my peeps roll him over cos thats just a dickish attitude.

Good thing he had backup from his soldiers from 662mob, hur hur NOT.
I hate to say it but what he did was wrong, yes and even though the guy was substancially deep a drop in is a drop in fair and square.
But why the hell didnt he fight back? He probably didnt have a chance but for pete sakes try and block a frigging punch next time pal.

I can see were this is going, people saying he was wrong and people saying he didn't desv it. Fact is every1 knows how the NS works, its how it is and its not gonna change.
No offence BB4life but seeing as you're giving so many tips from the sideline, will you stand up to a group of dem guys. Die fighting??

Put it this way, the more you fight back the longer you're gonna be in hospital.
He did what he could to be able to walk away from it, other than running away and never returning.
Anyways we all have our opinions.......
I'll just make sure ir never happens to me!!!!

i dont get the 662mob comment?
you can say that you'd fight back and this and that but at the end of the da you are facing five or six pretty ripped bigheaded "hardcore volcom" locals.u gonna tell me u'd fight back.no ways. throw one back and everyguy there is gonna want to lay u a beatdown, cause now they have a good reason.one on one i'd fight back but the facy is these guys arer pussies and only fight with there tough friends at their side.
either way its lame to fight for waves.
TO THE BAR!!!

Blocking punches....fighting back......sounds like a bbbaaaaaddddd episoded of the young and the.......eerrr I mean WWE.......Is it going to come down to whoever does Jujitsu, Ultimate fighting, friggin KungFu or just plain ol 'roids' is gonna get all the waves......I hate to say this but they can keep the NS and all those infested spots, I gonna spend my hard earned cash and go find some sweet uncrowded secret spot..........I'm outta here!!
DarkhorseJanuary 2006ag flip man! whatever! who teh hellc ares. its got nothing to do with us! just go find some barrels annd get sahcked!!
flip yeah!
January 2006
well speaking of dropping in... Brian Wise dropped in on one of the Wolfpak and got the wistle from the Volcom House / Wolfpak on the beach and the rest in the water... he tried paddling down to Rockys and the whole pack just followed him down there beach where he eventually came in most likely got a solid beating and hasnt been seen in the water since like Winny but apparently no one followed or they were going to get beaten also.
One of the surfers cars got broken into at Pipeline parking lot and the Wolfpak blamed the bodyboarders for this instead of the real crack heads out there feading there addictions. But one bodyboarder camera guy got smacked by them cause he was filming the bodyboarders so he was associated with them and Ryan Hardy had to deliever US$450 to them in order for the bodyboarders not too get beaten up and still allowed to surf pipe.. not too sure who contributed to this but its really messed up this year with the surfers!

hawaii--- nice place in theory, great waves apparently, pity its full of seppos. You will most proberbly find that they will find someway to link boogers and osama together.
That yanks can suck my wang, will rather do business with china and iran.
I wil rather spend my dollars on muslems in Indo than on some over weight, arrogent, terrorist yank seppo basterd.
Never been to hawaii, and never will go. Rather go to Chile, Mexico, Indo, Figi, Carolines, Canaries, Oz, Frik i will go surfing in Norway before i support the evil USOFA

Don't blame Hawaii for the actions of a few. There is more aloha here than most places. That's why people love coming. As for us Hawaiians/locals, it get's too crowded when everybody is here and we do our best to share, but we have to put up with allot of chit sometimes and wish there were fewer visitors. If you come to Hawaii, keep in mind that this is OUR home............just respect and be cool and you will get along fine.
There were so many bobyboarders here this year that flew in from all over the world. Especially from Oz. More than in the past 4-years for sure and it makes it very very crowded in the water. We welcome everyone that respects our home, but look forward to when the lineup is less crowded. For the most part the visitors are cool.
SmTJanuary 2006First up, there's way more Aussies on the North Shore than Seppos. I think there's a difference between a Seppo and an Hawaiian, so you can't really group them together.
But imagine your home-beach getting INVADED by hundreds of foreigners every year and then they burn you on top of it?
Pipe is a wave of consequence, fullstop. It's not a simple matter of some guy burning you on a wave. There it comes down to someone putting your life at risk. Look how easy it is to die there, Malaik Joyuex, the Tahitian charger who got much worse beatings surfing Teahupoo died there in the beginning of the season surfing 6-8ft Pipe, it happens that quick so you definitely don't need guys burning you.
Hawaii is the sickest place, of course there's tension, of course it's scary but there's Waimea, Keiki and Pipe, you'll probably see the biggest waves of your life and hopefully ride them as well.
Who cares how old you are, Dre was 16 when he went. The Aussies are groms and they've already been there a couple seasons.
I'm super amped to go to Indo but you can do that when you're an old man, Hawaii is now, when I can still take some of the beat-downs.
Who cares, it's all about the barrell.

One should never make sweeping statements, tolerance and understanding is key at this critical time in history.
Remember, our Australian friends are very heavily involved in the both the Iraq and Afghanistan theatres of conflict, as are many Fijians.
One should also be quick to point out that our Indonesian friends would be much more welcome in parts of their own archipelago and East Timor had they not committed genocide tallying the hundreds of thousands since the middle seventies.
Note the huge difference in attitudes between the primarily Hindu Balinese and Muslim mainlanders, although they carry the same passport, they are distinctively different people.
Nor are the Iranians – great people, shocking government – directly comparable to the US. Americans work hard, have massive vested interest, and are assuming a lot of responsibility for other people, which would make our lives a lot harder if they did not.
If they decided to close shop, many popular surfing destinations and territories would be reduced to slums.
The real issue should be as to what the Hawaiian people are doing to foster their culture, something one hears tragically little about.

its all good to write hawaii off and all the locals but you will forget all about that when a set approaches and you manage to get an inside 8foot monster at pipe or when u get to keiki and its 6feet perfect shorey and its just you and friends out or the sound of hearing waimea break shitting your pants..... or maybe i just had way too many bears at the JB Met

To Lance B...... dude you dont want to get me started on the 4th Reigh my bru... i too can quote history, lets see: USA the ONLY country to wipe two citys off the planet in a second.... ever heard of Hiroshima and Nagasaki???, then ther eis the fact that they have been involved in some war or another every decade since WW2, Korea, Nam, Cambodia, Somalia, Iraq x 2, central america, south americaa, shit dude the list caan go on and on. now for Iran and their Nulclear energy reactor. You state you live in Table view.... WTF is just up the road that keeps breaking down.. yup a nuclear reactor, good ol Koeburg, thats what the iranians are trying to build, why cant they? Dont they need electriciry too? The 4th reigh has 122 reactors on their own soil, and they wont let iran build one. History has prooved to us that the US is the aggressor in most cases, they create terrorists and their media attempt to instill fear into everyone.
I have mates who work in Iran so yup they have given me a pretty good clue as to what its about there.
Just like we white south africans had to bend our minds around that everything we had been taught during aparthied was wrong and we had try and accept that the majority of this nation percieved us as the BAD GUYS, so they, the seppo's need to get a handle on the fact that at the moment they are the terrorists and the threats to world peace. How many suicide bombers have they created since INVADING IRAQ? The USA is responcible for all the deaths that have happened as a result of "terrorism/freedom fighters"
PS i take back the dis on hawai, still i dont see myself ever going there, like i said there are so many other spot to go to rather.
Anyone ever heard of the caroline islands..... woo hoo now that looks choice.
What i would like to see is a global bodyboarder volkom burning ceremony, where all boogers around the globe get together and burn every item of volkom that they have, seeing as volkom is in direct contrast to the spirit of Aloha.

Digital Danny, dude you know i respect your lens and i totally agree with any smackdown from the result of a massive dropin/burn, but it seems the news that reaches our shores here in SA are of this misfit crew (volcoms wolf pack)who started off with a good idea (just like the JBU) but soon it just slumped into another form of extortion and thuggery.. like ryan hardy having to fork out $$$$ to surf pipe... please bru.
So you being the only hawaian on this site that actually does voice his opinion (thank the lord for that) can you possibley clear up what is really going down there.
I dont like aggro people, i surf a local spot that was agro, now its reputaion preceeds it and ironically it isnt that agro any more.
I still say every booger should boycott volcom as they suck.
Long live localism, respect in the water, respect for the rules, patience and wait your turn, it all will come your wway soon or later, unless you are surfing llands with 70 other dudes and its 1ft.

FREAKY SHUDDER BRRRRR......... its time to leave the wind and fires of vredehoek behind and move to .......parklands aaait.
Lance i have made my point, thats what a forum is, its nothing personal, shit i dont even know who you are, ok wait i am gonna try and view your profile, my point of view is that of a historian and a child of the new south africa trying to figure out exactly what democracy is, and through this try and find a solution for world peace. Africa has taught me to change my viewpoint, now i am trying to apply that way of thinking to the rest of the world. In reality, eveything i say is irrelevent anyways, there is no way i can change the world, none of us can stop the way the US does its business, none of us want to go to war over trivial issues, africa has enough shit as it is. But when my life and the cost of living i live in is directly affected by the actions of another country.... well then i choose to excersise my constitutional right to bitch about it, even if its to a bunch of boogers. Anyways the more this forum gets used is better for search engine optimisation on kellys behalf and thus 60/40 gets ranked higher on google. hahahhahahaha...... who btw have been ordered by the US government to hand over all their internet records... eeeeish who knows maybe soon i will be abducted by MIB's, taken to gauantanimo bay, tortured, have all my human and civil rights disregarded, held in secret, have no access to the outside world, (concentration camp) and finaly let go with a gag order that i am not allowed to talk about what happened to me. all cos i dissed old dubya and his dumbass policies.
Ok over it.

Olivier, I think you would be really surprised to learn just how many of us "Sheep" have bought the dreaded Volcom Brand... Cringe!!!
What I think is really important, is to give fellow boogers who misguidedly wear the Volcom brand (and any anti-bodyboarding brand) a really hard time about it so that they stop buying the crap, and stop wearing it too.... they should replace the item with a bodyboarding friendly label, and thus stimulate our industry.
Hope you have been getting sick waves... want to post some of those pics of you at hoek in the next week or so.
