The future of bodyboarding?

    Howsit Guys,

I was just thinking its time for a serious discussion, and I would dig to get everyones opinion on this one...

I was talking to a certain photog the other day about bodyboarding as a whole and in general. We were discussing the future of this sport, ie progression, moves, coverage and sponsership etc.

Then the topic came up about the bodyboarding evolution, in other words is the sport gonna get much further in aspects such as moves or waves and such.
Do you think that the sport has reached the end of the road?
Or is there a long path ahead of us?

Sure, guys are busting big tricks (which are all the same in some way eg. Air roll spin VS. spin to roll or otherwise known as the "air hubb").

Also there are defintely guys charging nuts waves that no other boardrider could tackle, but there is little happening besides barrels.

I know I might come under flak and fire from some of you guys for being a blind or negative individual after this post, but I merely questioning the direction of progression of this truely awesome sport, a pastime that I would chose to do above anyother.

    Shot for reading this,

    Later

    ahoy,
nah we only getting started at whats to come i reckon. just look at the australians for example, riding waves like cyclops that was never dreamed about 10 years ago.apparently spongers where riding waves like the wedge in cali and chopes long before the surfers even thought about riding it.we still riding waves surfers only dream about.about us only really riding barrels and stuff-Step1. put your latest bodyboarding video in the machine. Step 2. skip to Hubb or Virtues section. Step 3. viola!question answered in three easy steps!

theres no reason why saffas cant be like the aussies and join them on the march to international fame and fortune.i reckon the first step is getting some good footage of spongers riding heavy waves in s.a,like huge slab or even some large cave rock.and we'll never run out of tricks i skeem, just too much proggression, even by saffas like Rob Gray with those judo and rodeo airs and stuff.fight the good fight dudes.just my opinion like jack gave his.

i reakon that there won`t be too many more new moves invented, but instead riders are gonna be concentrating on style and mastering all the moves and most proberbly the very new moves like the REWIND, the HUBB, ext are going to be used by riders in comps. i also think that DK is gonna become even more spectacular than what it already is; there will be more airs being busted out on the knee. the future of bodyboarding is looking good, there`s more and more new bodyboarders every day, there`s more prize money for the PRO`s and people are starting to realise who bodyboarders really are and what the sport and life style is about. stand-up surfing seems kief, but i would rather bodyboard, people and stand-up surfers should stop thinking that their sport is better or harder than ours, cause it`s not. just because they stand up means nothing to me, me and many of my friends who bodyboard can stand-up, it`s not that hard + i`ve seen stand-up surfers go in and TRY bodyboard and they come out, not admitting it, with alot more respect.

so, don`t listen to what others say about you as a bodyboarder or about the sport, because it is growing and it`s gonna be very big one day ( i think even bigger than surfing ).
