Hey kids, had the scary experiance of getting pile driven head first into the reef on saturday (location: undisclosed), was kncoked out underwater... bodyboard, bicep leash and jesus saved me... i think.
Word to the wise, never surf alone, always keep an eye on your mates as you never know if your buddy isnt going to come up from his last wave, and as in my case, if you do have an appetite for shallow, hardcore reef breaks, were a helmet or a hoody, you only need it once to save your life.
The big man upstairs had his eye on me that day, i was so lucky that i didnt snap my neck or drown, only have a blackeye, very swollen face and a nasty hole above my left eye for my efforts. Kirk Cortrals death at platboom should serve as a constant reminder that surfing is unpredicatable and at the best of times you are hovering on the edge of disaster.
    Ahoy
PS: It was absolutly firing and a pleasure to ride whilst the whole media roadshow was at the hoek on saturday.
PPS: that ballie in the white gath from now on is me, if you got a problem with it, speak to me, we can always take it back to the beach, if you know what i mean.

Ahoy bru, i try and avoid beachies as much as possible, prefer reef breaks, but hey thats what you get for growing up in the False Bay. Only time you will catch me wearing my gath on a beachy is if i am taking water shots of stand ups, surfboards can kill you , you know, they are like hard and sharp and have skegs and stuff, so my gath is nessessay when gettin gup close and personal with a toothpick.

i dont need a helmet, if a surfer comes near me i`ll smack him with my pool noodle, then he`s gonna need a helmet
