After a day long battle with the lagoon boat owner and the local task force local bodyboarders finally got the river at St. Michaels beach to burst. It held up its name for the best still waves once a year and caused squeels of delight among the lighties as they grabbed anything that could float to try and ride the kiff still waves that formed. Local bodyboarders Kyle Warman, Kevin Rowlands, Sheldon Posthumus, Justin Zietsman and Terence Pieters were on it with a few of the local surfers grabbing boards as well. The highlight for myself was watching the older guys pushing down the noses of the groms boards sending them head over heels down the raging torrent, over the rocks, and almost to the outside. There were a couple of rolls and spins done and some master DK by Kyle Warman and Gordon Davies. All thats left are the cut up knees and possible cholera. Later...
