ahoy muggy,
sounds like you ous had fun.cant say much for natal.salt rock and durban the wind was howling.sunday there was quite a big swell running,5-6 foot at blue lagoon.are you gonna send any shots to the logic?i totally understand about the expenses and all that and the problem with the funding though.just wondering.

filmed at cave rock this mornin,realeasing a bb vid in early december tryin to showcase mainly the natal guys but will post more details of that later in the week,anyways the wave held up against the wind quite nicely.
Alistair Taylor an Rob Gray were chargin an going pretty darn big.will post some framegrabs in the gallery in a sec.

Hey badger i was wearing a beanie with a peak and slippers, i was filming next to dane so u probably did get me.

hahhaha, nice to see the kbay soap opera was in full swing this weekend, but you know sometimes you just gotta bail the crowd. follow the swell and score indo in south africa, cant say where, but we drove for about 4 hrs and scored the sickest wave setup i have ever seen. Surf ranged from 6ft to 15ft, go t caught inside twice and sat on the shoulder watching the MB crew surf, big time respect boys, you ous have some serious balls. One dude was consistantly rolling 10+ waves, and his mate was pulling into the biggest pits.
I shot a roll of slides but have been threatened with death if i ever disclose them tio the world, so unfortunatly its on the hush hush.

ya Badger that was me, quite sick pic.
i cant get this link to work. my computer is messed. if you guys want to see some pics ive uploaded 2. one is this guy just about to get closed out and this other guy doing a HUGE air drop. the quality is alright. i cant make out who it is though. just go to SEARCH for pics then go to Dane Stirrat under the PHOTOGRAPHER. they quite sick. i still need to check the under water footage and see if it is any good. ill try get some more photos. like a pic of the 8 foot sets that came rolling through. ill let u know.

Ya watzup everyone!!!!
I am just checking out there if anyone has an external hardrive i could buy as after the footage i filmed on saturday at Kalk Bay- i found that the footage takes up quite a load of space and my laptop has only a limited amount of space and that must be used for "school work" as the mother says. So ya just to say to all the Cape Town dudes who were out at Kalk Bay on Saturday afternoon you oaks have serious balls!! (Josh and Aden Kleve, Ian thurtell, Johnny Maritz, James Moolenschot, Jp Nortier and lots more sorry i did not mension your names)!!
It was solid 6-8 foot and i know you look at the pictures and say that its not that big but when you airdrop 7 foot onto dry reef and then get sucked over the falls and then have to duckdive another 2 or 3 solid 6 footers that shows guts and solid determination to the sport of bodyboarding!!!! SO RESPECT!! As chappy said-just e-mail me at

i also thought the wave was a 10 footer but actually if you look on the left that wave is only about 6 ft so ya kalk must have been big but the harbour wall wave was only about 6 foot. what happens is the wave comes and hits the wall and bounces up-mix that with the back wash and you have what you think is a ten foot wave and what washes two ous from Mpumalanga off the wall!!!!!
Just thought i would teel you ous!!!

Ahoy Spy Dude.
You may have had to drive 5 hours to get your perfection, but from 11am until 2pm on sat, there were only 6 of us in the water at K-bay... When I drove back past at about 3.30 it was a bit of a circus.
Amazing how crowded Cloveley was that day...

spoke to Peter last night and he said some of the footage of kalk bay was good and might be used for lines of fire. He said the under water footage wasnt that great which i understand because James had to try get a good shot and paddle for his life at the same time. im goin to check it out this weekend.

Keep in mind that Peter is a perfectionist and is seldom overly stoked with what he gets
However, last night Ian, Peter and I reviewed a heap of the footage from the weekend and in retrospect there is some pretty decent stuff from the water in spite of the rip sucking me into the impact zone and unloading some pretty unforgiving set waves on my head!
Heads up for some frame grabs of Peter tranquily tickling the tummy of a teethy T-Rex tube on Saturday, will post it sometime soon.

All that I will say is that when I AM stoked with footage, then you KNOW it will be insane... Perfectionist or not. lets just call it high standards... Nevertheless, big up to James for making the effort to paddle out and sit in the zone while filming, it was heavy... just ask him about the audio of his heavy breathing, on tape while he was duckdiving the rouge sets.

Ya watzup guys!!
I was filming on land and saw how james was getting pounded about (peter was also as he was in with the cybershot).
Water footage is never really that good unless you have a screen where you can see what you are filming or if you have a helmet cam or backcam or whatever!!!!!
But respect to James and Peter for getting pounded for the DVD!!!
I will show Peter my footage on the weekend and see what he thinks but my opinion for the second time filming i got some pretty epic stuff!!!!
I will be lame and not tell you what that epic stuff is so you can check it out 'maby' on
LINES OF FIRE or you will see some pictures in the course of the year on this site! WATCH THIS SPACE!

I just saw the frame grabs from the kalkbay session when you were in the water. They look sick! will that be used for Lines of fire?how was my camera? Nice one for goin out. im goin to check the footage this weekend are u gonna be with peter any time this weekend?

We can't really (and don't really want to) say what will and won't be in LOF until it's finished. But you can figure out for yourself that with sessions like we had last weekend the footage quality gets raised a notch.
Thanks for letting us use your camera for a bit, it was good to compare with the footage from my camera. And we still hope to get a better setup for water soon.
