I just want to thank chappy for taking the photos and bringing this to light. Tagging at the best of time sux, only the true graff artists can get away with spraying on a wall, most of the time "tagging" looks worse than chicken scratchings, its degrades an area into a slum vibe, if you wanna go spray a wall go hang out at canal walk or something, or friggin spray your own bedroom..
To the PAB crew: you are not welcome on the false bay any more, please dont let me catch you in the water, craig i mailed you yesterday, no rebuttle to my mail yet so i will assume you are as guilty as the ones who sprayed that utter shiet on the rocks. Take up surfing you kooks, cos you have the same mentality.

I wanna apologise for my friend's actions, as he is really new to the scene and he had now idea about what he did that was wrong... Im gonna make it a mission to go down tomorrow and scrub that crap off, please dont go down and beat me up as I had nothing to do with this...
As I said its nothing to do wih PAB, I dunno why he wrote it...
Anyways I just wanna say a HUGE sorry to all those guys who had to see that junk, Ill phone this guy tomorrow and just explain what he did...

To me anyone saying they have ownage over a beach or they are " local " is utter bullshit, Spydude and Chappy you guys are alot more maturer than that to go picking on the younger guys, i aint defending anyone here and to me graffti in general is a waste of bloody time, Jack did apologise. To me and my standards thats good enough aswell as vollunteering to clean the Graffiti up, as far as " banning " them from the beach and threatning them you guys are acting the same way as the mindless punk who put the Graffiti up in the first place, the sea and beaches unless private are their for everyone and everyone to enjoy!! Hi there guys
Respect to chappy and marqua for there concern for the beaches. I think they are have the right to voice there anger like they did. After all the beaches are there for all of us to share and respect. If this cannot be done, action needs to be taken to set it right.
On the other hand, much respect goes out to Jack for having the courage to come out and voice his story in front of the hundreds here in this forum. It must have been hard and i respect him for that. It takes a brave soul to admit there mistakes and they can only learn from it as they are still a young bunch of guys.
Bodyboarding is not just a sport, but a culture as well. This culture includes respect and camaraderie. We try to keep our culture in the spirit of the sport. People do make mistakes, but the best of 'em has the balls to actually come up and admit it and learn from it. Lets not let this situation move us as a community apart, but bring us together and make us stronger in order to show the real beauty of the culture of bodyboarding, esp in S.A.

Hey Jack Thanks for the appology bru, i know it wasnt you, maybe you can supervise those dudes scrubbing the rocks with toothbrushes.
To the durban cat: Tariqu i think: Dude i live here and surf here and have done so most of my life, i share and share alike but like everywhere that has hard core intence waves that break over shallow reefs with take off zones the size of man hole covers results in localism.
Now i can honestly say that its a pleasure to surf Kalk BAy with 20 other bodyboarders out,no vibe, just good times and allot of respect, given the lighties have to pick up the scraps and the older more experianced guys get the pick of the set waves, but hey thats reality. When i was a lighty i got dropped in on, klapped, tied up in surf board bags and all other forms of grom control that was metered out on me and my firends. Also back then there wernt lank bodyboarders and WE had to proove ourselfs to the surfers buy charging, going big and not backing down. I feel i have earned my stripes bru and the fact that i actually give a shit about my enviroment and culture says allot. I dont want the bodyboarding image tarnished more than it already is.
So if it has to respert to asked people to leave the water (which happens allot at kbay amongst surfers... like beware of Grant Spooner, he sends anyone he doesnt recognise in if he feels like it)
So that s my point, i feel its up to the older guys like me and chappy and billy and pat to sort out the kids, and at the end of the day we also end up protecting those younger locals in situations and also directing traffic in the water, ask anyone who surfs kalk bay with me.
So ya... Jack thanks bro, ahoy for your balls.

Ok thanks for the appology, i sent you a long email bru, in reply to the two you sent me, read it and take it to heart. And as for the wall in the tunnel, there its guilty by association and guilty by red paint, and after your one mail to me how can i beleive that you guys didnt tag the wall either. So whatever, just clean it all up, and that goes for rocks below the waterline too. Chappy understated your work and i was shocked to see how many more rocks were tagged.

Puku, dude sometimes it takes one person to be banned from something he loves to set an example to the others. I can enforce the ban, but i know when a community (like the false bay community - thats surfers and bodyboarders) gets pissed off, its easy to identify the guys and ask then nicly to go somewhere else.

I have made several efferts to go to dangers and scrub it off and it doesnt come off so iv asked my dad to get some paint remover..
I apologised and said i would clean it off and i will..

KellyJuly 2005If anyone does know of any products to remove spray paint which is available in SA then please give these guys a shout. I know at least of a US product called "Lift Off #4" manufactured by Mostenbockers but not sire if that is available in SA.
As a very last resort if nothing works - and I would check this with the local guys like Chappy, Spy Dude - you may have to spray over it with a colour which matches the rocks??? But that is ONLY if nothing else works.

KellyJuly 2005 Nick, just to answer for the local guys - it has been 3 weeks. So, taking your advice they have given them way longer than you suggest and are now trying to "sort it out".
To the PAB crew --- I'd get moving guys, the local crew have been very understanding considering that you have defaced their local spot --- personally, I'm not sure if I'm as understanding - any form of vandalisation bugs the hell out of me and what bugs me even more is that you have associated this to our sport. These guys have opted to sort it out within the community rather than taking it to the authorities so my advice would be to co-operate with the locals rather than the authorities - I'm not sure if an offence like this would end up on your record but if it does, it could have repercussions for your future - applying for jobs, travel visas etc. If you want to play in the big world then you must realise there are consequences for your actions - clean it up and you could be getting off very lightly.

Looking at all the stuff thats been said,Stoner said on 3 July "i'll clean it up tomorrow" and its still not cleaned up,as i understand on the 21th he said his going to clean it up tomorrow AGAIN!!!!!!!!
i'm not a local there or anything but just imagen some guys spraying stuff on our local rocks i'll be pretty upset aswell.
I think u gave these guys unough time, if its not gone by the end of the week F*ck them up or something to lern them there lesson.

I went down to dangers on Friday and saturday and this morning to clean my mess up but
my friend the guy who did most of it doesnt want to clean it off..so its gonna the whole of next weekend for me to take it off by myself..
my dad bought me the paint remover and it is fading away slowly but surely..

Ok im pretty sure usual pool acid takes it off with a hard metal scrubbing brush - if this doesnt remove it any hardware store has something called paint stripper - not too sure if it removes spray paint but its worth a try WARNING KIDS - this stuff is very harmful and hazerdous to your health, so please be careful when handling it - the paint stripper is not easy to get rid off even with water. Hope you guys get it off very quickly- this "ill do it tommorow" thing aint buying you anymore time.

iv been bodyboarding for about 4 years now and i know about respect in the water for standups and older bodyboarders..i let them have all the waves i dnt mind..BUT because of one mess up that i made you guys are willing to kick me out the sport...nope aint going to happen i LOVE bodyboarding..nothing u do can stop me from doing a sport i love even if the locals wanna beat the shit out of me..go right ahead but beat the shit out of me nowing that i will be back in the water the next day..I Know iv messed with the Bodyboarding Community by defacing dangers but iv been down there and cleaned my stuff off but iv learnt from it..I HAVE ALOT OF RESPECT FOR THE BEACHES AND THE LOCALS AND GROMMS..but i did mess it up and im sorry..and oscar must AT LEAST make the effort to clean his part of the mess up...and yes i am your friend,but i just felt i was getting to much of the blame...and only now do you come and say sorry and confess... and i will be at dangers with you whenever you decide to go helping you clean your mess up..

went down to dangers today....amazing...the grafitti is still there!! doesnt look like its been touched..
so just letting the little boys know that we are now laying charges against the perpatraters, the residents that live there have just paid for the beach front to be upgraded and signs have been put up stating that it is a "protected" area...they are disgusted ...sorry...you've had far to long already....or should we just sort it out another way...?

shew, 4pages of this. it took 3 min to spraypaint and a lifetime of regret afterwards. use small amounts of hydrochloric acid or even deoderant will clean the mess. (i know this cause im a pool boy.)

some cape-town grommets spraypainted a whole bunch of rocks at dangers. this pissed off the older crew as it was an eyesore, or visual pollution, they gave the groms a month to clean it up whereas they said they would but didnt. now they aint gonna get any waves.
