Bluebottles

    Soooo, whats with all the bluebottles lately?
    Had a surf Monday arvi at my local break and there was just little blubottles everywhere and I got so stung... So bleak, as waves was pretty good...

    yeah bru sux. we had a sh1t load wash up here over Christmas time. it has something to do with wind direction that blows them to shore. but over Dec we had more than normal wash up, was ridiculous!!!!

    The weird though, was that it was a light offshore/west blowing. Must be the currents.

    yeah, same here. warm waters and westerly blowing. also thought it weird as im used to it being cold easterly's then they wash up. and like you mentioned it was 100 times worse than normal. like the whole high water mark from Yellow sands to like Chinsta east which is a good few KM's was all just think blue. :shock:

    anyways, havent seen one since. :)

    Summertime blue(bottle)s!!! :P Always end up with loads of them around at summer during the onshores, just not sure of the reason for this. Any marine biologists/oceanographers amongst us that can shed some light on the matter :wink:
