Photoshoots

There are a number of photographers around who are willing to hook up with a crew to take shots. What they ask vary from person to person, some ask only that you provide the transport, others will charge a fee for the session or for each photo and may depend on the skills of the riders in the water. These guys fork out a heap of cash on equipment, film, developing costs and petrol money so don't even think you're doing them a favour or try to do them out of cash (stories I've heard of in the past).

If you are keen to hook up for a photoshoot, reply to this posting or email me and I will try to put you in contact with a photographer in your area.

Try get a crew together to split costs and at the very least be prepared to cover their costs. An incentive to the photographer would be to have some decent riders in the water in good conditions - winter is coming up so plenty of that around.

So - no moaning about lack of shots or coverage!!! Here's your opportunity to take responsibility for your own coverage.

    Yo yo ..

    Hey badger..whats up my buddy!!!

Yup, what badger said about the footage is completely correct!!
L.O.F. NEED footage from all over the country...we mean it!! We WANT to include everyone....
its like looking at a magazine and saying" er man, there are only cape town / Durban guys in it" Well, heres your chance to get some footage and send it to us!!!

The invitation is out there and giving plenty of time for all to get some quality footage to us.... We would love to be able travel the country getting sick footage of all the areas but that is nearly impossible...So if we dont receive footage no one can complane when all your local rippers aren't in...

SO GET TO WORK AND BE SEEN >>>
    THANKS

Hi Dane, and other potential footage contributors

Stoke that you have got a Video Camera!!!!! I am very keen to help you make the most of your camera and get the best possible footage. Give me a call on 083 313 6106 or during work on 021 531 6112 and I give you a bit of advise on how to get your camera and tripod setup working nicely, so that if you do end up sending footage in, we can use it.... You know how it goes, its really easy to end up with super shakey or overexposed footage even if you use a tripod, but I can help you to get the best results.

We are hoping to go up country later on in the year to do some filming.. busy speaking to the Smith Twins and Tamega about a possible mission, but this would only be once I am back from filming in Indo. Watch this space!

Durban / Pett guys... dying to hear from you!!!

I am very keen to film in plett (9-16 July) but not sure about durbs as i am only goin next year sometime. But i am sure you could get hold of a person in Durbs. I am just starting out as i am still at school (grade 9)
But a videoographer in the making as very keen. Just need to get hold of a tripod (know of anyone). When are you hoping for the footage to be in??

    Regards,
    Dane :) :D

    Hi Dane,
Shot for the post and the sms. Stoked to hear that you have a Canon MV850i, that very similar to my old camera that we started out with. It has a lot of zoom, so it is pretty good for filming bodyboarding. The best things to note with that camera are, to white balance the camera before filming, which teaches the camera what white is so the foam looks better and the colour hue of your picture looks more realistic. Also I will show you some tripods and video heads so you can get a feel for what is out there, and I will also show you how to do very close shots of waves without the camera auto overexposing, as well as how to keep focus when panning. And a few other tricks. We will give you a call this weekend. I might even be able to lend you a tripod for Plett, if we feel that it will be worth it (i.e. if we can get you filming nicely)
I am stoked to see that you are keen to get into filming!
    ciao
    Peter

Ya i will be very amped to do that so ya give me a call on the weekend. Theres no point in having a camera and not knowing wat do with it or not filming properley.A tripod would be awsome for plett unless i buy one.

    Later :P

Cool will give you a call this weekend to hook up. The cool thing is your Canon is super easy to use and for what it costs is of a goodish quality. You can try out the canon XM-2 and Manfrotto 501/520 setup when we hook up. Later!

    Hey Peter,

I just want to say thanks so much for the day on Sunday.
Sorry about the time limit that restricted us from going into the reserve but never the less it was Kuk anyway.
Next weekend should be good and on friday i will be keen to go out to film.
Could i ask you one favour, could i please feature in the DVD(just a little section or clip or whatever???????)

    Yours in filming/Bodyboarding,
Dane :P    :D

    Yo Dane,
Are you talking about inclusion of your riding or your footage... either is cool, but the footage/riding must be of a high enough standard to be included. Let me know.... Re Filming - the next mission to get footage will be the weekend after next - possibly bayview - swell permitting, otherwise film some stuff yourself and lets see how it comes out.
Best of Luck - don't forget to weight your tripod, make sure its level, white balance, and to pan smoothly.
    Best of luck
    Peter
