Ordered a waterproof camera from america, getting it tomorrow at last! its nothing serious, 5 mega pixel sports camera is a 130ft water proof housing.
Really stoked to take in water shots! been doing land shots for a while, but never water shots.

    Heres the camera:

You gonna have tons of fun with that bro...
You will find however that it will be super hard to get barrel shots as you dont have a fisheye..
But this could be something in the future that you could aim towards.. I started with a still camera very similar to that.. It was film though.. super expensive Minolta.. We all had tons of fun with it..

whoa those pics are classic... epic dude.
Yeah leash is advisable.. that housing will float so if you loose it you should find it but its always a safer option..
I dont thing a standard leash will go into that thread... you might need to get something smaller and join it to the housing and the Leash.
    All the best

Heres quite a sick hint that Mike Stewart gave me about 10 years back.. :D
    > use dishwashing liquid on your "HOUSING lens" before you go out.. Flippen works amazing to get rid of water drops..

Yeah dude, i always use spit. works like a charm.
if u dont have dish washing liquid just spit on the front of the housing lens just before you paddle out and wash it around a few times. works well.
definatly buy a leash! i wore 2 leashes this one day at hoek, but my housing is huge.

    good luck bra

Sweet,,, shot colin, def something i wanna look into, have Gath, need camera!

Got this free surf DVD off a Surf Europe mag (sick magazine -- rate it big time) and allot of the footage is done with helmet mounted cameras. Made a average movie into an above average movie (plus all the unknown Euro footage (spain, portuagal, france and morrocco) was just sick)

Lyle bro, would be so keen to shoot a session. Don't expect anything professional though. Haha, can shoot video and pics. We must organize.

HAHAHA!!! Not quite the requested helmet cam, but reckon you'll pull some funny looks with this facehugger of a contraption on ya mug. It's apparently not even too pricey.
Made by Liquid Image, more details at the link: http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/05/liquid-images-new-underwater-digital-camera-masks-debut-at-ces/

bru what you mean??? gonub's is one of our safest beaches!! 2nd to nahoon. my opinon. bonza's and easterns freaks me out- ill surf some east coast spots alone before i go to either of those two!

st is that 1st shot from out of town??? trees in backround look familiar.

ja bru, i dunno, to surf alone at easterns just freaks me out. one or two others out and its cool. not sure if its the dark rocks under you, if its cause i nearly drowned on 8-10ft waves there(stand ups were calling it 12ft) or if its cause it just looks suspect. anyway....

The best headcam movies in my opinion are the following..

    Chrystal Voyager - George Greenough
Pioneer used 16mm cameras from the military in the 60's classic surf film
Built his own yaught with ports for filming dolphins and whales..

    The Inside - Scott Carter

    My eyes wont dry 1 & 2

Headcam hints.. Wide as possible Fisheye or around 140 degrees angle
Camera must be pointing up.. slighly down..

    Check them out

yeah thought so. man photogs have gotta be so carefull. just the slightest bit of bush and if youve been there... you know it!
dude, my mate and i scored this place once at about 4ft- its mental. looked like the pics of keiki! swell must be huge and tides gotta be right. and usually only works for 30-45min. but all the planning and failed trips can be worth it!
