It seems that Billabong has dropped Ryan Hardy's sponsorship. One less Bodyboarder on there team.

Wow! That is quite extreme...it is quite difficult to think that such a successful company would end the sponsorship of one of the best, talented bodyborders in the world.

well ryan is just getting back in the water after a long spell out and fighting an illness, so possibly why this has happened?!

actually good dont think Ryan needs owes like billabong, just get a good eduction, have a good job and then you never need to worry about scrapping for freebies and can just travel and free surf and do as you like...

but then surf wear is over rated anyways ;) i prefer to stay clear of it unless bodyboarding brings out some sick labels...

Dudes, lets not turn this into another brand bashing topic. Billabong have sponsored Hardy for over 10 years, helping him to represent for the sport in the best way possible.

Its crap to hear the news though, and the reality of the situation is that the implosion of the global economy is affecting everyone. I am personally watching it happen from the inside of a very respectable kiteboarding brand, and these guys are chopping off some big and expensive heads at the moment. Scary, scary times.

yeah with the economy nose-diving it was inevitable we'd see it somewhere, bigger industries are seeing bigger impacts! Also, yeah everyone has their brand preferences...

I personally like Billabong, definitely prefer it to other surf-powerhouses but this does make me think twice before coughing up R450 for a pair of jeans, no matter how much their fit just suits me best!

why cut out the oldest member? where is their loyalty to his commitment to their company?

i think they should have cut members at the bottom of the team, not the one who most likely helps promote the brand the most.

Hectic, Andrew Lester dropped for grom Thorpe Waleuw and now Ryan Hardy dropped. interesting situation.................who's next, Matt Lackey, Dave Ballard, Mitch Rawlins or Ben Hanson. hmmmmmmmm, gotta love the travel allowances some guys get, maybe a re-think of those funds could of helped??? who knows, what Mark Clark said in the beginning of this Topic is the way.
