  • ElementreeElementree

    Hey guys...

There is an idea floating around about showing a couple premieres at the cimema - yeah thats right - at top notch international bodyboarding DVD showing at a leading cinema is no longer just a pipe dream - it can become a reality, but it is up to your support.

A lot of do$h needs to be invested in order to secure such a show and i just thought that i would run this to get a feel for how many of you would be amped...

I need something like 140 votes, so tell your friends and lets get this ball rolling!

    Cheers
    G

Ahhh sounds epic!! Only thing you didnt mention is rough price to watch it......

what would you owes cough up to go watch it? Gareth says will be some money invested to get it going but the more owes that pull through for definite would mean lower costs ;)

I reckon it would probably be a first come first serve as will be sold out asap!!

id happily even pay R50 to watch it and count me in plus atleast 3 others i know would be amped... even more as would be one of the sickest times i would get to watch a vid on the big screen in a movie house....can imagine sitting in front row?! would have Mitch Rawlins doing a flip over your head... boooooom

    G and Mark - good stuff bru's!

I wonder if this is the place I am thinking of - if not we should mention to them or at least get a quote. I think this is another very kiff idea.

I have not had a chance to run what I wanted past Rafiki's yet as I appreciate the views raised RE the laatjies and booze being around, and also been busy at graft. One could always mission to an after jol type vibe after the cinema. I guess we need to base ticket price on what venue hire will be. Anything above that can be donated to a good cause. Maybe Boogie development locally or the like.

I think 50 views and 10 votes so far shows the interest is certainly there - topic was only posted late last night.

    Kiff, later.

Just a note, you need to be registered and logged in to vote so you won't get everyone voting and should be used as an indication of interest. But no doubt, a bit of effort on marketing and sales would be required to ensure it is a success.

This would be a great night out and if you ever had friends or family tuning what the hell is bodyboarding all about then get them to come to a night like this. Bodyboarding is starting to churn out some top quality bodyboarding films - good riding, good filming & good editing - and then there are a couple WOW factor releases and these are the one's which we want in the cinemas, being played at bars and beach cafés etc, reaching out to the non-bodyboarding public and raising the profile of bodyboarding.

Now im certainly not someone who frequents the "thats hot" cocktail bars of Cape Town but u might catch me there for a mates b-day or a big footy game etc...

But imagine this, Caprice cocktail bar basically has the ULTIMATE positioning for something like we r talking about here.
Its right across the rd from an epic shorey when its on and im pretty darn sure people watch the okes when they r in the water on a nice day too AAAANNNDDDD the soopercoolfantabulous people that go there are all strapped with cash money.
PLUS it has like 3 nice big screens :!:

So maybe one night hit them with something spontaneous and hit em up with one of the latest and illest boogy vids on the scene.
Im sure they will be more than happy to watch it dont u?
Besides, its waaaay better than the drab MTV or Fashion TV moopoo they put on normally.
The guys that manage the place r pretty cool and on it aswell and im sure they would be cool with it if it brought some customers in u know.
Imagine what it would do for the industry if boogy vids were played all summer long in the beach bars, subliminaly passing the msg of getting ur boogy on to all that glanced?

I dunno its just a thought that ran across my mind
    Use it dont use it....

No drinking & boogying of course!!!!!!!

ok now my 2 cents worth.

Unless the booger film is at a local arthouse cinema (like the Labia where the NF10 was screened) i am not amped to to goto a mainstream cinema house to watcha booger film, unless its part of an extreame sport DVD fesitval, like what going on at the mo at Tygervalley and canvendish (i think, or maybe i missed it again -- doh!!) where for a week all cool DVD's are shown (Skating, Base jumping, surfing, boogering, mtn biking, wakeboarding)

Organised screenings in obsure locations suit my idea of the punk style of boogering much more. I dont give 2 shits about the ticket cost, but i am not a fan of malls or overly yuppie joints like caprice, but i get what kelly was going for there.

Anways, what ever happened to the drive in.

Spy...Dood....i would WAAAy rather hit the Brass Bell than that too-cool-for-anyone vibe honestly!!!
U musta missed what I was going for bro
I hate those kinda places, hell I look the other way even if i have to walk past the jol LOL
What Im saying is that it could get awhole lot of people who werent previously aware or interested, interested.
And those people ( and by that i mean the peeps that frequent them places ).....have ALOT of money my man and if interest was sparked who knows what might materialise???
We could get sponsorship from places we never thought were possible

Im just tryin to think in a way thats a lil off than normally thought if u get me?
Oh and u forgot to gimme that heads up my guy.
Thats 1 x burn at ur home break for me LOL!!!

    Jokes bud.
    See u round broo.

well guess thats count spydude out ;)

well we cant all get familys and kids of all ages to come to pub to watch promos sadly. but with the bigger audience of the younger generation / parents be excited to what they getting there son in to is a much better foundation for the sport....knowing you are supporting your son who will grow up keen for the pub / drinking is a no go i would say and gives us bad vibes..

sponsors and interested sponsors looks much better and sicker..

and id rather go watch it any day on the big screen with the sickest setup then sitting in a noisy pub trying to watch it... why not go afterwards?!

cool...haha sorry spy my 2 cents worth but looking at an overall perspective

hahhahahhaha... classic, no worries craig, but if you did read the forum a few days ago, i posted spikes forcast for False Bay. Ian also made comments and then there was the facebook group. Bleak you missed it though, it was a show of note, but no worries, there is a rumour Muggy is making a little doccy about the event, so alreast you can watch that

Mark, not refering to a pub only, i said obscure locations, heck i even mentioned a drive in. Think lucky strike parties.

Gareth... pull in, i will by you a coke zero

So 7pm, friday night, old school represent!

This past Friday, 29 August, Roam was shown at the Nomad Kalk Bay Shoot Out prize giving.

The bar was pretty packed, with plenty people eager to find out who won the contest and watch the film.

Here are my thoughts on showing the film in such a location.

    1. The screens, although large plasma screens, were not big enough for everyone to have a clear view.
    2. Because of the venue being a bar people are constantly walking around chatting to their mates and getting in the way of the screen etc...
    3. One could barely hear the sound because of the constant noise associated with the pub - same goes for any venue of the same kind.
    4. The place is a pub and therefore has an age restriction of 18. Organizers of the prize giving were given some lee way because of the fact that the prize giving took place and kids wanted to hang with the riders and find out who won.
    5. Minors were drinking alcohol and seeing the general bad behaviour associated with a pub - bad vibes were caused when bouncers had to keep tuning the kids(not all of them, just a small group) to stop drinking.
    6. It is just not a healthy environment.

All in all i just don't think that a pub is a suitable venue for the showing of a bodyboarding dvd.

We are considering a couple of locations.

I was not commenting on your statement - i was merely pointing out that there seems to be something up with the percentage of votes - take a look and you will notice that there have been 32 votes cast - 96% in favour and 3% in opposition...

    Now my question still stands....

I wonder what happened to the other 1%...

p.s - what happened to the Coke Zero?
