What happened with the Roam promo in durbs? dont think i checked a write up or anything about how it went and turned out?!

whose keen to check it out in CT? looks like it cant really be organised as a sick offical get together due to certain reasons..

if anyone is keen and amped to watch it, maybe know of a projector with sound etc i can bring along a DVD and we can bust it out for whoever is keen?! Super sick dvd and definitely worth watching esp on the BIG SCREEN!!!

hit me up or reply to here if you have any ideas or keen to make something happen...

firstly i can provide a laptop and the dvd itself to be played and watched... any other contributors / amped owes?

here is an idea... just putting it out there, but when the shoot out wraps up, the closing ceremony will be at the bell (cheap beers ahoy!) why not screen it there. I know that evening is gonna be quiet a party.

Speaking of the Shootout.
I wanna add my 2 cents worth.

I gave up contests in 1991 as i didnt see the whole vibe as what i surfed for, the bias of the judges, the snaking out in the water, the whole I AM GREATER THAN YOU COS I SPUN TO WIN attitude, the bitchyness, the stress, man it all got to me, but this contest was a breath of fresh air and i was totally stoked to be part of it, even though i got my arse kicked and i surfed like the biggest dork ever, hahhaha, i wasnt beaten in my heats, I lost them all by myself. But it was still epic to surf against my mates and brothers in a friendly vibe at my favourite break in Cape Town.

I love the fact that over half the boys there werent ''contest boys'' heck Peter Brandt had to be be briefed on how the flag system worked, we ''ching chong chaad'' amongst ourselfs to establish a pecking order in the line up, there was no snaking, no paddling up the inside and it was all manners amongst the contestents in a heat. This is the best example of boogers doing for themselfs. This is a contest i truly beleive in and a model that any of you kids anywhere in the country can build on, would love to see a shootout in durban, a shootout in mossel bay, a shootout in east london, pick 20 riders, throw some bucks in a kitty, winner takes all, easy peasy, oh and remeber to take photos and do a wee bit of promotion.

As for the Quarters/semi's and finals... I cant wait, even though i am now been sidelined you can stand assured i am gonna be there, on the sidelines cheering the boys on, atleast now i can set myself up in the bells, mount the camera to a table, crack a pint and enjoy the show (and not have to wait for the flipping trains to pass)

So when Ian does give the call, you okes should find the energy to pop out of the woodwork and come and enjoy the show, if friday was anything to go by, its gonna be happy days.

Finally my picks for the winner... Johnny Martiz all the way, the boy is a machine and seriously, he can paddle into anything. He really does have Kbay wired to the T.

does anyone know when the final will be on and what time at the brass bell? supposed if we can give more acurate times can get owes amped on it for sure...also what equipment is there to view it? projectors? sound?

sweet... maybe two events to show the vid, one for those that are at the contest and another general night out for the boogers to watch a sick vid and socialise a bit

The Bell ususally hosts the southern burbs edition of the wavescape film festival, you do realise that whatever bar its held in, minors will be excluded as da booze is served

Ja for sure but thats why its open to ideas and suggestions...if can view it in two areas or one sick area just as good!! I know a few promos ive been to the bodyboarders wont rock up cause they think they are too special that they cant watch a promo without a beer in the hand... yup sadly letting down the upcoming riders of the country as they are amped to check the pro riders... yes real shame, but those pro riders that put the effort in and realised there was more to a promo then getting drunk with your friend i would say enjoyed it much much more!!

but yeah ideas are all open and good and whatever can suite the most people will be best....if we have to hold it in McDonalds then so be it and we all enoy it with happy meals

hey guys...

Firstly, spy...thanks for your thought on the shootout! i really appreciate the kind words! Really stoked you could ride and be apart of the Contest!

As for the Promo vid....If the shootout finals are held during the week, the prize giving will be held on either the fri or Sat night in the week it finished, cause its not much fun having a prizegiving on a mon or tues nite!!! My thought would be to have the prizegiving earilish...6:30ish and straight after have the ROAM vid show for the rest of the public and lighties....im going to have to check it out with the bell first, so dont get to crazy on the idea! but sound like it could be a crazy nite!!!

No worries Ian, shot for putting it on, definatly one of my highlights of the year.
Good call on the prize giving being on a friday or saturday night.

oh and Peter brandt.. i am gonna go train, do sit ups and stuff and work on my 360's and rolls and next year your ass is grass amigo.
