I might be going with my family to Jeffreys Bay around December - January, so I was just wondering how the waves are during that time, regarding winds (I presume theres alot of onshores in summer), swell and what spots work best in that season.

thing with jbay is when its falat it can be flat for weeks!! but all you need is one good day and youll remember it for years!! if it is flat hit cape st francis. its usually better and picks up a swell even when jbay is flat. i spent a week there this past jan. got a week solid of flatness except one day where it was 2 foot and its really fun cause it runs forever just like all the pics and vids. i like jbay. enjoy!!! :D

Shot! I hope there's a few nice days!! This will be my first time going there, since I started bodyboarding. I also heard that there is this so called: " J-Bay Underground"? I think they are just a bunch of weeners full of crap!

You also said that Cape St. Francis might be a good option when Jbay is flat, is the working spots there probably Seal Point and that beachbreak nearby? And I doubt that Bruces will go off during summer.

dude, when i was there there was more tourists than locals!! i made mates with 2 poms, an american and about 4/5 cape townians. they were the only ones in boardies everyday!!!

locals were quiet. met this one old gent- goldie... what a legend!!!!! he's been surfing jbay for like 70 odd years!! telling stories etc. so no need to worry. and when i was a grom(about 5 years back) i remember older surfers helping me catch waves when longboarders were hogging everything. so in my oppion the vibe is legend.

i dunno the spots at st francise, all i know the days i were there you drive right into a point. worked good. the beachie was to my left from the car park and was small, one foot- but that was one foot bigger than jbay. point was like 2 maybe 3 on bigger set wave. jbay also has some fun beachies around from supers- one is called boneyard (i think) then theres the main beach and a reef furthur. but if its flat-they all flat, and if theres swell the point or supers is the place to be. soooo crowded though. but still- good memories!!!! i love my jbay memories :D

The nice beachies, ur talking bout Main Beach proparbly and Kitchens Windows.
Our holiday flat this is gonna be right in front of Boneyards.

But what is more RARE there in jbay, a very FLAT day, with hardly waves or days with surfable waves?
My opinion- I think there should be a wave on almost any day on low-tide.

I spent a December/January holiday in cape st francis about 3years ago. Coudn't take my board along as I was traveling with my girlfriend and her parents. I remember spending hours on the beach watching sick wave after sick wave passing by. The waves were good. So if JBay is not working be sure 2 check out cape St francis.
