Mark has been in top form at the Shark Island comp today and is gaining momentum.
He came in second behind Ryan Hardy to advance to the semi finals.
In the semi final he absolutely blew away the competition with a massive backflip over the shallow end section posting the highest single wave score of the day so far with an 8.77, backing it up with a 5.50 to win the heat convincingly. Coming in 2nd place was Ryan Hardy.
The other semi was won by Island local John Showell and current Island champ, Ben Player, coming in second.
The final will be Mark Mac, Ryan hardy, John Showell and Ben Player.

Let's hope he hasn't peaked to early and can carry his momentum through and take the win.
Condition are not the best at 2-3 feet and a slight crosshore wind blowing so its going to come down to whoever gets the waves.
    GO BOETIE!!!

Mark Mac has wound up a very succesful Shark Island assault with a 3rd place.
Mark was unable to make the most of his last wave in the dieing seconds of the final. Needing a 5.87 Mark took off doing a tight spin in the pocket and racing to bust a trade mark flip off the end section, unfortunately coming unstuck on the landing.

The winner and now 2 time winner of the Shark Island is none other than current world champion, Ben Player. Sneaking a last minute wave do take the win from an in form Ryan Hardy and winning by the narrowest of margins.

The wave conditions were not typical of the Island comp but nonetheless they were very contestable.
Well done once again to both our Boys, Wes Fischer for taking out the trials ahead of an all star field, and Mark Mac for placing an amazing third and kicking his world title campaign into top gear.
