Well i heard that Zigzag send old AVG and an entrie tow crew to that secret spot up the west coast that we all know its name but wont mention, you know the spot, starts the a T and ends with a T, And they are gonna be splashing the images all over the next edition.
Can any of you weskus boyties (shaun, attie, braden... etc) confirm this. I bet you this is gonna go like that spot in Oz.. "Ours", boogers pioneer the wave and surfers claim it and then chase all the boogers away.

    Anyone go there?

    And??????

Big Bay was bleak, just like the rest of the spots around The View...

Hummm...i had heard rumors of surfers on that wave...

Here comes the first death at the spot...

But ya...if they have to tow it then they don't own it!

Could be pretty bleak if things turn out like Spy predicts, but somehow i doubt it...all it needs is for one or two of them to come really short and the majority will stay away.

Such i guess is the result of ...The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret.

Should have kept on blindfolding peeps.

I know surfers have been checking the spot and surfing it for some time....not often tho...
Would it have been handeling the swell? too big????

if the pics come out in the mag, i rate every booger this side of the equater writes the zag a "nice" letter, stating the facts.....The mag HATES Boogers anyway...so its not like we loosing face in their eyes!
they also could be overwhelmed at the responce???

haahaa 4.5m swell and towing straight at a death rock, ouchy. Cant wait to surf it lank crowded, hahaha that should be fun.

  • May 2008
i would say good luck to them and dont believe it will ever become an issue with them... why?

well they cant paddle into it as its to heavy, so no go there

yes they can maybe tow it when its big enough or certain size, BUT they cant tow it if there are bodyboarders riding it as they have to give way to the bathers and sports / recreational people free riding in the water first..

    so unlucky for them hey!

and when its tooo big its over rated i would say from what ive seen and shot

Went past KBay yesterday and it wasn't even worth a mention.

Doesn't look as though it has picked up much today either. Took a drive down to Witsands this morning. There was swell but it wasn't hitting properly. Factory was ok but not cranking and Barkley's bank wasn't even breaking.

So....looks like it's not really happening down south today. Maybe a fun wave at Factory but not much else. There are one or two other possibilities if you've got time and prepared to travel.

Hahaha! Yeah bru my neck was so stiff for a few days. Lots of beatings, but so worth it.

As for Mike going over the falls...   we got it all on video and had it playing over and over again on the tv when we got back. So funny!!!!

I got bamboozled with the swell today though. Went back down to Crayfish Factory after work with Peter Lambert. It was SOLID! Not huge but def big enough to make you keep your eyes on the horizon. Got lank spooked before paddling out cos all the guys were saying it was mental out there and some dude broke his leash and followed his board out into the middle of the bay. He eventually got out the water at the other end of Witsands!!! Peter swam out there with his camera and was paddling around in front of the take-off zone!!!!!!!!!!! BIG BALLS - but then we already knew that. All the surfers on the beach were stressing out cos they thought he was gonna get washed away.

    Yowzers!!!
Ja Mr Lambert is a freak dood.
I dont swim in the ocean without a board period!!!
But whatever tickles ur fancy right?

With all this swell Im really hoping to score somewhere.
Preferably a beach break cos then its not too scary  but everything just looks mess.

Mike's wave is gonna b in my head for a long time too broo.
Didnt think he was gonna go, then he did but he was still at the top when it pitched and then.......aaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!
Solid wipe into pretty much a deep trough of dry sand

    Good times :D

Well chaps, the swell is still there. Had a look at the Factory this morning and it's def not as big as yesterday, but it's got a 6ft wave (couple of 8ft sets now and then) and was super clean. It'll def pick up with the pushing tide as it did yesterday. As for the rest of the coast, well it's just going nuts and there are waves breaking at all the outer reefs and on the outer banks all along Witsands and Misty Cliffs.

If you are gonna go for a surf down south, be prepared to paddle!

@ Peter B: Dude it was hard to tell cos one minute the waves were 7-8ft and then next minute there'd be a rogue set or two that made the rest look small. Some of the surfers were calling it 14ft but that's a bit extreme. I'd say that it was 10ft on the sets, although Mr Lambert might tell you it was small   Either way it was WAY overhead for the standups and it was windy as hell.

having taken most of the waves on the head yesterday evening at factory in the name of trying to get the shot (silly surfers kept pulling back, so it was hard) I can say it was a solid 10 feet on the sets! lots of swiming deep and holding onto kelp! today could be cracking 6-8 feet and clean on waves that like NW wind, or maybe a bit bigger?
  • Scarecrow
    May 2008
Yeah that was ALOT of waves on the head! Bru the surfers in the car park were freaking out cos they thought you were gonna get swept out into the bay or drown or something. I'm def gonna go and take a look later when the tides in.
