Well maybe not its best, but still pretty close.

So A friend and I go for a walk down a certain part of the east coast(Not mentioning any names or spots)
The pictures might be revealing to those we know the area.
we walk for about 1km and we come over this dune, and this bay comes into site, the sun was rising over it and it looked amazing.
It has the most beautiful swell breaking backline, and this HECTIC LITTLE SHOREY, And omf was it hollow!

Well anyway, i had my cam and tripod. and took a few pics. Here are some of them:

    Questions....
    1) Why put them on photobucket?
    2) Do you know how to attach pics to your message?
    3) Why dont you host the pics on sixty40?

reason is photobucket is blocked at my work, but i still cant understand why people host pics there when they can just host them on sixty40.

just list it as secret spot.

Also, Photo bucket is easy to use when it comes to having to resize the images.

What sometimes puts me off from uploading pics to 60/40's gallery is that uploaded images get re-sized to 600x400 (most likely to reduce bandwidth usage) which isn't very big at all.

A possible reason for the resizing of images is that very large pics could cause problems with the site layout..for example if someone uploaded a 2500px wide image(wider than most peoples screen res) the space required to fit the image could mess with the positiong of other elements of the site layout.600x400 seems like a reasonable compromise baering in mind some smaller screen sizes.

Ja - pretty much. There are 2 reasons:

    1. We resize to 600 pixels wide for landscape and 400 pixels high for portrait so that we have a photo which fits on most screens without the need to scroll.
    2. We resample the images so that they are optimised for web (smallest possible file size at a decent quality - we use 75% jpeg). The reason is not to reduce our bandwidth usage but to improve the speed of the page downloads.

There are some improvements to the gallery in the wings ... some will be coming sooner than others. One of goals is to have the original file available for download for those that wish to view a larger higher quality version.

Marty.... dude... us old folk look at computer with a 1024 x 768 screen res, at that size, 600x400 is fine. This is a site to build up info and image galleries about spots and those that surf there. If you are using a bigger screen res, like on a laptop or a over the top Mac or something then remember this, 95% of the world isnt and well, what seems small to you, is perfectly natural to us. Oh yes... scrolling sux.
Kelly you can push the portraid to 450px, i know that works, that brings in a width of 300px. Just done a site using lightbox image galleries, and those dimentions work lekker.

west = ye***ws for sure!! depends on alot of other stuff as well though. crowds, if swell is small or its east swell, then g**n e**n. its abit like easters, always catches swell plus it works on easterly. plus the banks there have been really good with a super strong rip on the one side which makes it super easy to get out!!!! i love lazy paddles!!!! qu***s b**ry is also good on west. almost never anyone there to!! so one of those three spots. always!!!
