    hi guys

i spotted a brand new ms1 this weekend and the store wants to move it cause it is '07 stock. the new price is a low R1600! my question is, im a perfect 42". that is,my boards stops right on my belly button. now this board is a 41.5" board. it is a 1/2" below my belly button. would this affect my ridding in any way??? just looking at it i could notice it was smaller than what i was used to.

    shot guys

    hi Lyle

the MS1is a very bouyent (hope the spelling is ok) and a bit wider so the .5" will be sort of ok for you. if you weight 8okg or more i will not get it, but if you are around 70kg you will be ok. dont they have a MS3 in 42" in stock. also a great board big swell and small wave. hope this will help you and if there is any more info you need, please i am here to help.

    hey lyle,

len is right there in a sense about your weight in comparsion to your height... but the older days where more the measuring method to have it to your belly button.

alot depends on your style of riding also and your preference. The boards i ride are mainly 41.5inches and they dont come near my belly button. Its my personal preference to ride smaller boards... either way they are good boards and if you are quite an advanced rider you will feel the slight shortness at first but within a few sessions you would be used to it and wouldnt remember the change in size. Riders normally tend to change / shift there style to the size of there boards and conditions...

go with what your heart tells you ;) either way i dont think you can go wrong..

    good luck!

    Lyle,
Typically if you are riding hollow, powerful waves with a quick take off then a shorter board will be better, because you can manipulate the board a bit more easily to handle steep drops, etc.
If you are riding less powerful waves or waves that you need to work up speed to ride through sections then a bigger board will be better for down the line speed and catching lumpy waves.

Either way I reckon a 1/2 inch will not matter too much, especially if its shorter in length but has a bat tail (as with MS1) which increases the boards floatation and speed...

I Dk'd an old manta Pirahna and its was 41.5
I could take on anything with that lil beauty.

I mostly stick to 42 tho cos its wat im most used to.
But may even experiment with a 43 soon.

In my honest opinion that .5 doesnt make too much difference.
Only when ur a bigger guy does it become an issue.

    I say take it bro.

PS:Where has everyone been getting waves on the west coast lately?
    Just curiouse :D

JMO's on the button - I rode a 42 bat (67kgs 5'11) and then got into bigger waves and swapped to a 41 crescent 'cos I got more comfortable in sizey waves. It's relative to the power of the waves you ride. Get the shorter board and go bigger!
