Over the last decade we have seen a number of bodyboarding publications come and go with Option Mag being the latest victim - another sad day for the sport (check out their site for a message to their supporters: http://www.optionmag.com ). We can only wonder where the next US publication will come from - here in SA we had a few years without a mag and we all know what effect that has on the sport.

So what this should be, is a wake up call - a slap in the face to all of us to get our act together and show our support for our local magazine - Logic Mag (http://www.logicmag.com). Now, I have no idea how the Logic guys are doing - maybe they're doing good - but they are a new publication who have taken the risk in a market which is historically pretty fragile, essentially taking a risk on us, so let's show them our support ... get your wallet out and purchase a subscription from them for only 40 sheets a year. Christmas is coming up, so get the ballies to chuck in a subsription for you or buy one for a present for someone. And make sure the rest of your bodyboarding crew are supporting the mag.

    Subscription form: http://www.logicmag.com/Subs/subsdoc1.pdf

Now that's the first thing you can do - the next is take a read of Brandon Foster's article "Nazis in Sheep's Clothing" and take action (To find it from the menu choose > Words > Features). The basics of the article is why on earth are we supporting companies which are not supporting our sport? The companies know this, so when it comes to advertising in our magazine - why should they? We're going to buy their products anyway ... so sort it out, support only the companies that are supporting us and if we all do this then it will help Logic secure advertising for the mag - if a company feels hit by the fact that we are not supporting them then hopefully they will start advertising in Logic, sponsoring riders and contests etc.

And hopefully by each doing our bit we will ensure the prosperity of our local mag. Bodyboarding has been stuck in a place where there are a few people doing a lot - it's time for everyone to start doing their small bit, if you've got more to offer, go for it ... but sometimes bigger things get done by everyone putting in a small effort.

    Hey all

I know refer to my post that Logic needs support, I amplify what Kas24 and Kelly had to say regarding this, guys if you havent either got your subscriptions or 2 copies of the mag then please, please go and do it, option mag was an overseas company where there is a larger fan base and many more supporters than we have here.

Kelly has probably sent you guys a mail already about the pipe contest, i have sent it to my whole address book, bodyboarders or not asking them to reply, i suggest you guys do the same. http://www.sixty40.co.za/?petition.php?id=1

Guys we need to stand For what we love doing the only way its gonna stay alive is if EVERYONE plays a part, bodyboarding would not be here if it where not for the people who ride and support it.

    So get emailing

Ahoy, it is indeed sad to see Option mag shut down. We at Logic mag hope that with your continued support and enthusiasm we can continue to bring you a top quality product that is only fitting to our sport. Keep supporting the companies that support bodyboarding and it will happen! I know it keeps getting repeated but its the only way for it to get drilled in. Get out there! help the companies, get involved! We will keep growing.

    Thanks again.

how about a list of those companys that we need to support and a list of companies that need to be boycotted... like starting with Volcom... the natal dudes are real pissed with them, apparently the surfers at volkom loose sleep at night over the bodyboarder issue, their hatred of us keeps them up at night, trying to think up new ways to put us down. haha loosers.

    Listen up man

i totally understand where you are coming from BUT Dissing surfers aint gonna help the subject man, i support a variety of diffrent clothing and shoe companies, i need that list just as much as you do, like i was saying we cant just pin a certain sport or its participants just cos they stand up! i know lots of Bodyboarders out there who have tried surfing but they still support the boogers in the water! so man lets try win them over rather than dissing them?

lets just hope we get feedback on that list now. im going to speak to a few mates and see if they are still producing clothing, i know that 628 bodyboarding has quite a few shirts and Probe aswell, as for Rossi i have only seen caps but i dont think they are for sale im gonna check in the morning. so guys even though all this is happening Ie: pipe contest, option mag etc etc, lets use that energy to further support BB rather than just getting pee'd at everyone else! Spy this aint an attack or anything mate im sure you voiced what most ppl where thinking and that takes ball's man!

    Lets keep it together guys.

    Well said,
but there is one thing that can truly change & it effects our hobby/sport is the fact that most the stand up companies say that theyve given up sponsoring riders & advertising in our mags becuase they dont have to.

We go & buy billabong, O'neill & quicksilver with out a thought. Same with Vans or whatever, & I have friends that will argue that it has no effect on us BBers or the comapnies but its just to wrong.

We must support the sport if we ever want to see it continue successfully. Blaming stand ups isnt the way either. We must all unite in a common understanding that we are all surfers, Now is a great time to do this too becuase most the stand up community is becoming more about its roots & Paipo is what lead their sport to fruition. Theyre being more supportive than ever too, we should take advantage. "Keep your friends close, Keep your enemies closer."

We were 1rst, we must educate & befriend despite our harbored feelings of resentment.
