Board Problems!!!!

Moderator's Note: Please read this full post to note that the manufacturer, Rossi, is repairing the board. Credit to Rossi - he produces a quality product and this just illustrates that he backs it up in the event of something going wrong.

    Ok here goes my story...

I've been saving up for more than a year for a new board and struggled to decide which board to choose... I chose a "Rossi TRON" which I still think is a fabulous board but wait....

I got my board the Friday(01-10-2004) and decided to go for a surf at big-bay on Saturday. Everything was fine the surf was great the new board was great i was totally stoked.

I went to school the monday. My board standing against the wall lookin real awesome no scratches nothing! went to school and couldn't wait to go for a surf again. So I persuided my mom to take me to bigbay the Wednessday. The wind was blowing me sick but the surf and the board was still great.

After the surf I took my board out of my boardbag and put it on the stoep(which is underroof and out of the sun!). When I then got home from school i walked past my board to see there had form two huge bubbles on my deck!!!! I was freaked out. It had not stood in the sun it stood on its top rail and by some reason it formed two bubbles.

to the Surf shop where i bought it and took it to them. I was totally depro, cause i was going to struisbay the weekend and was really looking forward for the surf. They told me they had to send it to Durban for inspection mabe repair or replacement, i was cool with that but i asked if I could take it for the weekend and bring it the next week. And so i brought it on the 12th October. Now the guy from the surfshop calls me to tell me that the manufacturer say that bubbles don't fall under the warranty and I would have to pay for the damage.

I am not blaiming the surf shop. The guys there are really cool. But i want to know what you guys would have done if you were in my shoes. I really looked after that board like a little baby.

Please let me know what your opinion is???????????????????

    Peace Out :?:

i heard of the same thing happening to a friend of mine.
Dude are you sure the board was not in the sun's path during the day? it might have just caught a bit of it cos sounds to me like its a heat bubbles.
and secondly your board should always stay in doors if you can help it as the above might happen!!.

The Manufacturer in durbs i think they where talking about is Marc Russouw you can see him in Logic© Mag and on http://www.rossiboards.co.za
there you can either email him or phone him direct.

    Hope it gets soughted soon.
    cheers T

The funny thing it was indoors and there was no way the sun could even get heat on it, not even light.
And it does not have water inside, so i dont know, i dont think it could have been the leash. what ever, hopefully all is well and i get my board without having to pay for anything and just enjoy getting stoked at every surf. :D

yeah, something there doesnt sound right. rossi's new boards are polypro and are 100% waterproof, so no way its water logged, but the bubbles that formed can only be caused by heat, depends which side it was, the skin or the deck. heat causes the board to delaminate in which the slick bubbles out, if its the deck, the heck i got no idea, it would be a first for me to hear something like that.

I know exactly what the problem is. You said you surfed big-bay. There you go. If I took my board to surf there it would also get pissed off with me and bubble. Do your board a favour (and yourself) and just cruise a little up the coast where the waves are better and your board will love you again

Ok, so ive waited quite long for my board now. This is Really FRUSTRATING!!!!!

So i gave my board on the 12th October. It is now the 30th of October and still I havent got a board. The weather is great the waves look cool, but I havent got a board to ride.

They told me it would take two weeks, shit its been longer than that. I dont know from wich side the delay is coming from(Surf Shop or Rossi) but i need the board. I called the surf shop on tuesday and they told me it would be here on Friday(29th October) so I was totally amped to take my board out and have a great surf this weekend, but no "SORRY, MAN ITS NOT HERE YET" said salesperson when i called on Friday.

I cant say im mad but really dissapointed. I still believe Rossi is a good Board Company and i'll still support the suf shop but im just dissapointed in their service. :?

Please tell how you guys feel , and would have handled it?

So far that is Rossi's only downfall, cos its a one man operation and based in durban things tent to get a little backlogged and delievery time is never prompt. I know this because i know guys who deal directly with him.
Rossi isnt big in CT for a reason, but i am sure he is a clever chap and can see the huge potential of setting up a proper mandate for how long it takes, so if he tells you 2 weeks then its 2 weeks and not 2 months. Rossi heed my advice and your market share (and bank balance) will grow.
We all saw the whole durban squad on Rossi's during the SA's and i am amazed at the ST model, pure revolutionary stuff that for a DK board, dig the nose bru. But time to set up delivery routes that are more punctual.

Oh and airfix dude, a repair will never look as good as the original. Bubbles happen, its the bain of bodyboarding, well atleast we arnt like surfers who snap their boards at any given oppertunity. Think how shit that is, having to fork out for a snapped board everytime, ahh id rather bodyboard!!
