Friday 21st...missioned Christmas shopping, called a mate of mine who took great pleasure in boasting about the 3 - 5 foot gems he had just scored at Cave Rock...bleak...totally bummed knowing that Cape Town was supposedly phlat...
Saturday 22nd...decided on Friday that a dawnie was needed...so at 5am i went in search of branders. Derdes...pretty flat and weak, next on the list - Gassies. Got there, did the walk(aaarrrrgghhh), Power Box looked promising with 2 foot lines breaking on the outside banks...got amped and carried on to the Chamber...got there to find 3 foot bombs exploding about 30cm from the shore...not cool.
Sat and watched for about 30mins hoping conditions would change...decided to do the "walk of shame" back to my car, stopping every so often analysing evry wave along the way - not good all rubbish.
Ok so we had missioned all that way without surfing - not cool.
On to Yzers...where we would paddle out irrespective of conditions.
I wasn't too enthusiastic...didn't think we'd find anything, but to my surprise as we rounded the corner we were greeted by the phattest solid 3 - 4 foot left that blew the chunkiest blowout i've seen in ages!
Game On!
Had the sickest surf...a few okes out(not many boogers) exchanged wave for wave, got the sickest wedging right that dredged as it hit the bank, throwing solid pits and providing boostable ramps on the way out!
Steve Pol...dude what an invert!
A true God send on a day most had written off!
Damn i love missions when they reap rewards!
*Spy you should have joined!
