If there was a 12 Mega Pixel Compact Canon Camera that could shoot in RAW and JPEG, with an optical image stabaliser, for hire to boogers to shoot sick bodyboarding pix, what would a fair day hire rate be, and who would be keen? I'm busy thinking about buying one so that I can shoot a bit, let some other guys get into shooting it, and perhaps hire out to cover a bit of the cost.
Dunno that I would need to hire it myself (prefer to be photographed than to photograph!), but reckon you'd need to factor in a discussion with your insurance broker, depending on the risk of the camera or housing being damaged in the water ...

why not goto one of the camera hire places and see how they operate, there are a few company that do this already.
Its FARKING expensive though... for me.. not worth the money, will rather just borrow klippies 12meg underwater digi cam if i ever found the interest to shoot again, and even then it will only be for shits and giggles. The SA bodyboarding and surfing market place is OVER saturated with wanna be photogs anyways.

i prefer my trusty 70's tripod and my Fujipix on it, on the beach where its warmer and i can get the sickest pics when the sun starts going down and the light halo's the waves edges, gosh i love those pics :D:D

i don't know if i would hire it. it all depends on the cost - you would have to determine that.
that NINJA kid October 2007
Sheez I dunno dude, I think hiring it out would be mad risky, you'd either have to be very trusting or be there with the cats when they hire it anyway.
If you get some kid hiring it with Daddy's gold-card and his experience with cameras and especially housings is limited to seeing them in the foreground of his favpurite posters, how do you trust him to seal it properly?
Even insuring still means a hack to get it sorted and replaced.
Just out of interest, how much is the Canon costing if you don't mind me asking?
I have just got a EOS 350D and I have priced housing overseas with a personal international guarantee by the company (Fantasea) to pay you out if your housing ever floods! It's gonna cost me more than the camera but the personal guarantee has me contemplating not eating for 6 months...
