the wipeouts are intense mate, if you have a thick winter jacket you could take and use, ull probably have to throw the jacket away after but itll be worth it.

Yeah, I lived in Umhlanga for 7 months a few years ago and rode it almost every week. I loved getting those impossibly long barrels although I hated the standard issue bodyboards we got to use because they were always so poked.

Rossi should make them with a super thick bottomskin so they still keep their shape and projection after all the fat tourists abuse them.

:D It's fun, then the novelty wears off and I haven't surfed since way back, but definitely brings the kid out in you.
Jmo, the last time I did ride, none of the boards even had a bottom slick, was a mission having to keep chasing after the best board and fighting off the other guys who wanted it!Haha!

Totally, I just started standing up because those boards were pretty much indestructible. Every now and then I'd find a half decent bodyboard and jam a few turns on it for a laugh.

:( Yup, I also had to cross over, went well until the rail of the stand-up board decided to introduce itself to my Shin, super fun!
At least it's nice to have an avenue for fun if surfs flat and onshore.
As they say, at the Wavehouse "6ft and Offshore everyday"

How large(levels) can that D-rex wave get to?

It goes up to number 10 on the "scale" but they call it 6ft? Check out some of the pics with Billy, Wes or Oros on it, they generally ride it on the max!

Sasha once kindly stopped the water mid surf to remind me not to burn him...
