I got BONED!

  • Peter Lambert
    July 2007
It’s a sad sign of our times in this beautiful country where everyone is always stressing about security, theft, violence etc. and most commonly their own personal safety. I find it really hard to go through life looking over my shoulder, and like to believe the world is a safe happy place. I have actually been successfully fooling myself for quite some time now, but last night I got totally boned in kalk bay.

I was about to leave the bell and was chilling in my car, in the usual spot in the parking lot in front of kalk bay (which was firing by the way) anyway the next thing you know two coloured gentlemen are trying to get into my car which didn't take long because none of my doors where locked. I made a fist and pulled back my arm and was about to hit the one guy when he pulled out a rather large blade. By this time there where 3 guys.

Needless to say I let them take whatever they wanted and all my boards, My Manfrotto tripod and video head, credit card (more boneage to come here I fear - seems they managed to use it) and my new cell phone.
I spend most of today thinking about how good the waves must be and how I don't have a board, or a phone, soo bleak, I guess I'm pretty luck to be unharmed and or even alive!

Anyway the only constructive thing I can do from here on is to ask that all who read this who know me to please private message or email me your numbers again, and if anyone sees a blue ms3 (turquoise) with f7 stickers then to let me know.

Hope to have a new number by mid next week, in the mean time, my home number is 021 715 1428 and work is 021 531 6112

    Keep safe!

    Peter

oh no bru that sucks!! sorry to hear that man...well welcome to KalkBay!!!

That is the most sketchiest place ever ive found and almost as bad as Durban!!! Bru was there about 2 months ago and parked where everyone parks to go surf and the car gaurd reckons cool ill check for your car.. went to the cafe down the road and another shop and get back and my whole car lock system was stuffed up by his friends trying to break into my car and when asked him what the story was he just laughed and smiled and walked away as he waited for me to go around the corner.. but couldnt do anything about it.. id say get rid of those few car gaurds that stand there and get some good ones that can possibly even look after your keys like the ones at North Beach ;)

Ill chat online to you later..

Maybe keep an eye out for the CapeAds also ;)

    Hey Peter,
Sorry to hear about that, just glad they didn't introduce that big blade to your belly, things could've been worse!
I fear crime is a huge aspect of life and it's very difficult to escape it, the only real advice is don't be a target!
North Beach Car Park is in my eyes the safest Beach Car Park, I can leave my camera and wallet in my car, give my keys to the Carguard and I know everything will still be there after my surf!
Obviously this can't be said for all car parks, so just watch out for the dodgy areas and try think ahead and leave valuables at home.
Hope your stuff shows up Peter, and try have faith in Karma!

really sux pete, so sorry man..
on friday night i stopped at a red robot on my way to out to see my friend's band play and this coloured dude try to pull my front passenger door open.. thank God my doors lock automaticly when i start the car (another GTI perk), i was in such a shock i totally froze and then he broke a beer quarts bottle on my window..i thought for sure he broke the window cos i just heard glass..i was so scared, man. anyways, i just took off and when i eventually stopped..i realised the window didn't have a scratch on it.. just about 2 drops of blood, they dude probably hurt himself in the process...man, things could have been so much worse..
im so sorry for what happened to you, it's sucks that good people have to suffer for the consequences of bad social structure..
    just stoked you're alive.. :)

    Hectic...

No wonder you didn't reply to my sms...and i just thought you were scoring some sick waves somewhere.

Sorry to hear about that Peter, it is sad isn't it?

I mean i have been mugged more times than i care to mention, stabbed, cut and beaten in the process. All of which have resulted in me being very harsh to anyone i percieve as being a threat...

It truely is a sad reflection of the state of crime in S.A when we compare crimes...saying..it could have been worse or blame the victims by saying...well maybe their doors should have been locked or maybe they shouldn't have been there.

I don't know many people who's lives have been directly or indirectly effected by crime...

P.s...dude i so have a spare board for you!

That is so heavy man, it's not right!! Check the Cape Ad's I'm sure your kit will turn up.

I heard on the radio that there is a group that is trying to get all SA's to deduct their security costs from their tax returns (which is apparently illegal) as they say the Gov. has let us down and we shouldn't have to pay for basic security. The gov. deducts taxes from us to pay for things like safety and security, so why are we all paying again out of our own pockets? Another interesting thing I heard was, there are more security guards in SA than Police, all of them pay taxes in their salaries, all the companies charge VAT for their services......So now you buy a car and you pay VAT on it, cool we all do, you insure it and the insurance co. charges you VAT on your premium, but now your car gets stolen, cool it's insured, so now your insurance co. pays you out (if you're lucky)and you get a new car, sweet, but guess what you will pay VAT again......makes one think thats crime does pay....the Gov.that is !!!???????
