I was in the water not to loing ago and i heard some other boarders talking about the size of the waves and they reckoned it was 4-5 foot .... I was out and it was pretty big... i would have said 6-8 foot (there were some freak sets)

I've posted this pick of a wave... and I would like to know what u guys judge this wave at.. I reckoned it is 3-4 foot.. or maybe I'm just crazy[/img]

wave size depends on ball size and how much of a hero you rate yourself.

this topic has been covered before.

Some okes ( like me) will rate it 3-5ft as its over head and the dude has been riding it
peter lambert will proberbly call it flat
hugh grant will be running for his moms coat and dads sunglasses as its massive bru, well in comparison to Knysna lagoon its friggin HUGE!
digital danny will want to see the view from the back of the wave (hawaians measure things back to front.. its an american thing i think)

So ya.... its definatly over head.

Nah, don't believe that back of the wave stuff. We just look at the front of the wave and from memory of how we've been taught, we call it.

That one is a small 2-3 ft. Wouldn't call that overhead except to the tourists. But, looks a little hectic. Maybe the rip is going on as well........

ok agreed, there its 2-3ft, on the schoulder, wave looks like derde steen,
ok when you you call wave size? On take off, bottom turn or just before it closes out.
I call it on when the wave breaks personally

like how big do you rekon this is, i think its a bit more realistic as its a wall and not a schoulder.

My call's also with Danny, and just on the side, in my experience wave size is generally measured as 6-8ft, not 7ft. It just sounds better. Again, that's just my opinion :D
