Grom shots

    Hey guys,
I've been noticing recently some pretty agro comments aimed at the groms out there who have been posting some shots on the site. This got me thinking about back in the day when I was a grom and super stoked. I found this old pic that I think I definitely would have posted back then if there had been such a thing as Sixty40, or even the internet hahaha! Taken with Peter Lamberts dads Nikonos II waterproof camera the first time we tried it out, it got us both amped on photography... Classic
Lets keep the stoke, support the groms and post some of our own old grom shots to document some history. The oldest photo posted wins a walking stick and legend status!
This one is from around 1993...

haha what a classic shot, check out the SCOTT dominator, the widest board on the planet, and one of the first boards to come out with a "slick" this is from the pre-Morey Era!!! James also pointed out the duct tape on the nose, back in the day they hadn't quite got the lamination process down, so whenever you got a new board you would tape up the nose up before even surfing it, just incase!!! Gonna have to go find some old photo's!!!

    Yo Jmo,

For sure bru --- the one driving factor behind all the hours I spend working on sixty40 ... back in the days I would have loved to have been able to post a few shots so guys keep them coming ... ignore the comments of a few - we want to see the shots.

One thing to remember though - always try improve on the shots which you are uploading. Plus, if you only want the shot posted in your gallery you can untick the "Main Gallery" tick box when uploading.

Yo Spy, I still have all my negs in a box, and I'm very sure I have those BW ones too. When looking for this pic I found some photos of macking 6ft Kalk Bay from a time long, long ago before there was kelp growing all over the reef and in the channel. So clean and perfect!! Aah takes me back...

haha.there was a stand up out at kbay the other day.he was snaking all the spongers so bad but the problem was he was so agro and he was a beast of a dude.even his grunts as he paddled made me nervous he was gonna lash out and smack someone.
he ended up tuning some innocent guy that he was the reason bodyboarders had a bad name.all because he was sitting too close to him.funny thing is when the next set came thru he took off and proned all the way to the channel.wat a nob.
not gonna mention any names but i found out he used to sponge back in the day and that he enjoyed that super sick session u all on about on a bodyboard.why cant people just paddle out to have fun instead of trying to be the most hardcore in the water?

Aahh, as originator of this string I must insist that we do not start bashing Grant Spooner even if/though he does deserve it...

Spy, in those days it was totally feasible to get all time waves with 5 of your mates because no one had a daily 7 day forecast accurate to the hour of when the swell was going to hit. It just came down to being on top of the conditions everyday, these days I sooner check the internet than look out the window to see which way the wind is blowing... go figure.

BTW I'm still waiting for grom shots on those Wave Warriors. Wish I had a shot of my old pink Lazer 2 but i'm not sure camera's were invented back then!
