The Kumba West Coast Classic will return from the 30 th April - 3rd May at Lamberts Bay on the West Coast of South Africa. After the huge success of last year's event, its back and even bigger than before. This will be the 5th year of competition riding proudly supported by Kumba Iron Ore, Coca Cola and Reef SA.
The country's top bodyboarders will all be ready to do battle in the best waves the coast has to offer. This event is never one to remain calm when it comes to action both in and out of the water with activities going on throughout the 3 days of competition for everyone from the riders to the supporters.
Returning this year to defend his crown will be Richards bay's very own wunderkind, Mark McCarthy. He has his eyes set on the title again, putting in lots of practice at his local, Alkanstrand, as well as making many trips to the Cape practicing in the cold water wedges. Other Pro's include the likes of Durban's Michael Ostler and Iain Campbell (2013 DropKnee winner) Mafoos Lombard (2012 Pro winner), amoung many, and a star studded array from all over the Western Cape and Boland.
Boland's own Tristan Roberts will be there to show everyone what he practices day in and day out. The strong showing of defending Junior winner, Brode Gleeson, and all the Landudno riders will be out in force and ready to claim the title.
The hotly contested Mens and Masters division winners, Morne Laubscher and Riaan Du Preez respectively, will be back to make sure they start their 2014 SABA campaign off on the right foot. While the Ladies division winner, Inge Pieters, has to make sure she is on form against all the other ladies riders threatening to dethrone her.
