From the cruisy coast of the Transkei, to the icy waters of Canada, we take a look at a few of the more out-of-the-way locations. The Backwater Issue takes us to the future, or at least a dreamer's future, and back again. We check in with our very own world tour stalwart, Mark McCarthy, and reminisce with him about his stellar performance in 2007 and what it took to get him there. While on the subject of what it took to get him there, we grill our resident photographer, Mike DC, on what it takes to become a budding surf photographer and realize that it takes dedication and hard work to perfect one's craft, not just boat trips and tropical islands. We round the issue out with a collection of the dismal summers' best action shots, and judging by the collection we have, it seems as if summer was firing on all cylinders.
